Just to clarify one point. The "brotherhood" of which I spoke is that of the WIS community regardless of the watches worn, be they Casios or Pateks. You know. The kind of folks who participate here. But thanks for condescending down to my level. That must have been a real stretch for someone of your caliber.

People are funny.....I used to do antique shows, and sell watches. One day, many years ago, a fellow stops by the booth on the first day of the show, and asks me if all the watches in the cases were real. It had slowed down, at that time of the evening, so I had a little fun and said "No, of course not! These are just 'display" watches, like dummy cellular telephones you sometimes see at the wireless stores, on display. They are too expensive for me to risk putting the "real" ones out.....if someone likes one, I pull the 'real' one out from under the table, and show it to them." He mumbled something, and walked off. A few days later, on Sunday, the last day of that show, the same fellow came by again, and asked me if I had the "display watches" out, in the cases, again. I told him, no, as a matter of fact, that as it was the last day, and kinda quiet, I had decided to put out the real ones. With that, he began to look closely at the watches in the case (Rolex, Patek, Audemars, Vacheron), and then looked back up at me, and said "You know, I can totally tell the difference.......these look much better than the other ones, from Thursday!". I congratulated him on his keen eye for detail, and off he went......
From that day on, I was never surprised at what someone might say.....

Just smile and nod, then say: Ignorance shines brightest when its preached w/ the arrogance of misguided confidence. And no, that is not a quote that I lifted, but one I coined years ago after realizing that you just can't argue or reason with stupid people whom think they have it all figured out!

I know it's fake, and it still cost me $ 8500.
Just imagine how expensive this baby would be if it was real. I bet the green paint will run when I get the watch wet. |

Stop by your local AD, pick up a Rolex catalog, and leave it on his desk with a sticky note saying... "Thanks, no one like a know-it-all...."
