Clasp on new GMT 116710.

Hey guys.

There has been a lot of threads about the new GMT. And it's an awesome watch, to say the least. I love mine!! However, being the WIS that I am, I'm nit-picking every aspect of it.

While the clasp is a beautiful piece of art and engineering, does it bother you that the clasp does not extend to the length of the buckle? It seems as though it would be better centered, and look better if it were the same length as the buckle. As you can see from the photo, the buckle is centered but the outside clasp is off-center.

Very nice observation!

Hard to tell why Rolex made it that way!

Maybe it is just some try to maintain the design of the clasp of the predecessor, the 16710??

Besides that: Does the "short" clasp not give you a "centered clasp" fit?? If so, it works! Magical as it might seem, it still works!

Great link. Thanks! That's some very specific info.

To answer your question: Yes, the clasp gives me a centered look when on the wrist, IF the watch is perfectly centered on the top of my wrist. However, the watch normally sits a little off-center, which I believe is normal and I like the way it looks . Basically, if I just randomly turn my wrist over, the clasp is off-center. Again, not a big deal, it's just that it may look better if the clasp covered the entire buckle.

But keep in mind that I'm just starting a dialog. I'm very happy with the watch and the clasp.
