what watch for this situation?

this will be my last and final watch. then i will retire from watch collecting (seriously...seriously) this is my final chance before family responsibilities grow. going to buy this year 2012 mar-may or nov.

panerai 112G

i only want sports watches and bracelet. i think black dial too is cooler. my budget is 5-8K

what do you think about the omega PO 8500 42mm? should i go for it?

I think the PO 42 is a very nice watch, and would consider one myself. It certainly fits your criteria. It would give you a nice variety of brands, and types, being a diver.

My point! If it's going to be your very last watch (let's suppose...) I think you may prefer a different brand than buying a Submariner which, despite its different purpose, may look a tad too much like your GMT.

As well, I think having three different sizes is a great thing if you like diversity.

The PO 8500 is truly amazing. I love that watch. Everything I have read about that movement is hugely positive. I know it's new and somewhat unproven but WOW. If it proves reliable over decades I think it's atleast equal, if not better, than Rolexs 3135. The bracelet on the PO is awesome as well. I would be very happy if that was the final watch in your collection.

PO 8500 is nice, as is the aqua terra. I'd suggest sub-c but its probably too similar to your gmt2c.

The GP above is cool looking but you would take a severe beating if you had to resell the thing.

I'd agree with Mike's post above, IWC pilot chrono over any of these.

You lack a chrono in your collection and either the Spitfire (silver dial) or regular Pilot are very nice. The bracelet is very well done, the case is beefy and future proof at 42mm, it's priced around $3500, it's a no-nonsense tool design, and the ETA 7750 based chrono movement is universally easy to repair. Very classy with a suit, a little retro, and cool looking in casual dress.

i have handled that before. is the markers (numbers) and text on the dial very flat? how is the lume? does everything white(in your picture) glow in the dark? its a good buy, certainly below my budget. but i think i have to hurry though since i think they are being phased out in AD store.

What about the new 2012 Pilot's Chrono Top Gun in Ceramic. It looks really cool in my opinion and much different than the current watches you own. Good luck on your watch purchase!

If you have the wrist to handle it, then the PO 8500 is a very good choice for an exit watch. Although for that "purpose" I may as well go for a very special vintage piece, like a Cal.321 Speedmaster Moon Watch a.k.a. "pre-moon".

I was going to suggest a Speedy Pro to go with the PAM and GMT. The Speedy is pretty special as a collector's watch, and it can be had for $2,000 as pre-owned. However, if you want a more modern, finer, and unusual sport model, you can't go wrong with this GP. If you shop patiently, you might find a used one for $5,500+ up to $7k. It isn't quite the classic that a Speedy, Sub, or GMT are, but I'd take it over a Panerai as a collector's watch.

Yeah, It might be hard to argue against a Speedmaster. The watches you have bring a lot of history to the table and the Speedmaster has that in spades.

That said the PO is an excellent choice as well.
