Sky Dweller 24 Hour Indicator - Why?

Let me say I really like the aesthetics of the new watch, and I think the month designation and calendar-year date function are fantastic and over due.

But why, oh why, did they include such a prominent 24 hour indicator? I see no use for this, at all. I would have thought a simultaneous 2nd time zone display would have been much more appropriante for this portion of the watch.

Haha, okay.

I was even thinking to myself, I do in fact work in an arena in which I can be working at all times of the day and night inside the OR, far away from any windows into the outside world. And yet, I am never at a loss to figure out if it's 1200 or 0000, 0300 or 1500, 1000 or 2200.

This choice is baffling about the watch to me.

I could be wrong, but I think it is a second time zone display, set in 24-hour format.

Are you all sure? Rolex describes it as a "24 hour indicator" and says that a second time zone can be set by using the rapid setting of the hour hand. These 2 statements in Rolex's product description make me think the permanent display is NOT a second 'setable' time zone.

Makes sense, that's what I dow ith my GMT II when I travel, the GMT hand stays on "home time" and the hands get set to wherever I am

I just noticed that on the SkyDweller video.

I still think it would make much more sense to have a second, user set time zone that can always be displayed, ala the GMT hand on the GMT. Oh well, "home time" it is.

Thats how I interpret its fn.

As to why they chose this display is beyond my thinking.

Other than to visually cause interest to the dial, maybe?
