It is a FAKE!

NO Daytona says "winner rolex 24 daytona 1992" on the back!

It is THE classical Daytona FAKE sign.

Please click this link and you will see an example of it (SS version, though):

(scroll a bit down to see the fake Daytona with the engraved caseback)

But PLEASE don't buy it!

It IS a fake!

Even the gold hallmarks are faked, and very well so, on the fakes.

I also suggest you buy the book "The Rolex Report" by the author John E. Brozek.

In that excellent book you can see very good examples of faked hallmarks.

You can buy it directly from the author himself, since he owns the site that I gave you a link to in my previous reply.

Here is the direct link to the book purchase:

"The Rolex Report" (book purchase)! CLICK!

Why take a chance?

Maybe I'm just trying to justify overpaying for my Rolex watches at Authorized Dealers, but I would NEVER buy a Rolex from anyone other than an Authorized Dealer again. I did it once, for a 1993 "S" Daytona, and got lucky, but the amount of worrying about whether the movement was REALLY the 4030, whether hands had been updated or replaced, etc. etc. just isn't worth it.

Part of having a terrific luxury item like a Rolex watch is being able to smile when you look at it, and not having to worry about it. Plus, as I recently found out in buying a different brand on the internet and finding completely different after sale experience than the terrific service from my Rolex AD, I won't do it again.

Unless you are truly an expert, and maybe can see the watch in person (I don't mind face to face deals where I can read the person better than I can review the watch) I would just buy my watch from the AD and enjoy every moment of it.

Does anyone have any decent pics of that LTD edition aytona in Yellow, or Green, or Pink !?

Saw a very bling pink one in Harrods, London recently - way OTT. From memory - the Yellow one looks a cracker tho, and very unusual. White Gold I believe ?

I saw how to identify fake rolex from you tube today.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnjeW7TinCk
that video said that some genuine daytona make a smooth engraved "winner rolex 24 daytona 1992" on the back.

is it true ?
