New GMT II Ceramic
I just visited my AD and got bad news that they can not sell me another SS Daytona. I want a black face now as they already sold me a white face. They told me that they can only sell one to the same customer.
While I was there they offered to sell me the new SS GMT II ceramic at $5950 out the door which is USA MSRP before tax. Basically I am saving on the sales tax of 7.75%. Does anyone think I can get a better deal? I think I can, but did not ask as I was not ready to pull the trigger and did not want to work over the sales associate until I was ready to buy. I am just curious what discounts if any others have been able to negotiate on the SS GMT II Ceramic. Your imput is appreciated. |

I've purchased a SS daytona, a sub date and a 16710 pepsi bezel from the same AD this year and they will not give me a discount on a 116710. They've offer one to me 3 times, each time at retail PLUS tax and sold each to someone else on the list within 2 hours each time.

The sales associate was not even the sales associate I usually deal with. I told her that I had purchased my SS Daytona from them (different location) and I guess she figured I was a special customer. I also threw around the owners name. I really am not as the SS Daytona was the only watch I purchased from them. She just immediatley offered the watch to me with no tax without even asking. That made me think that I can get a better deal plus my sales associate that I normally talk to told me that she can get me a discount on all SS models, except the SS Daytona which I gladly paid MSRP plus tax. I guess this is a good benchmark when I am ready to buy the GMT II Ceramic. Actually, I can buy now, but my wife would kill me.
I have heard that the GMT II is hard to get, but I have been told they can get me one quickly when I am ready. I have a feeling this watch will loose luster after it has been out for a while and the availability will improve. |

I can tell you that I know a reputable grey market dealer who has ordered three new GMT II ceramic's and is holding them to sell during the holidays at a premium. I can also tell you I've seen em advertised on other forums for $6500 and on ebay at $7000. So your deal is at AD price. Hope this helps.

I believe that AD's are not offering discounts cause they are trying to get rid off the older gmt. There are too many of them out there

A lot of dealers in the gray market area will still sell the new GMT II for higher than retail with a slight mark up. It is still not unusual to see them going for over $6000 USD. To find them at MSRP is good compared to many gray market dealers that sill have a small mark up on the watch.
Of course to see one available at the AD is pretty good too. They are usually sold so quickly here, especially in California. Here in Cali, you might have to pre order and reserve them in order to get one still but its good to hear your AD has one available. You can negotiate with your AD to if they are willing to waive the sales tax though.

MSRP with no sales tax is a good deal. Several members have gotten a little discount off of MSRP. I would never pay more than MSRP. The New GMT IIs are pretty easy to find at MSRP. If someone is trying to charge a premium over MSRP, they are ripping you off.
Got my GMT II from an AD that has two in stock. No big deal. MSRP price of $5900, no sales tax, and the AD paid for the registered/insured shipping to my APO AE address. |
