Word...

Although, one of my favorites (only worth $6k) would not be for sale even for that!

In any event... Crazy story! The Rootbeer GMT is a great looking watch!

I hear you. I was just thinking about the drawn out Watchout threads I had making sure my was real before and after I bought it. The guys over there might lynch me if I flipped it after all the help I got.

And thanks. Although in hindsight I should have filled in some more details that would have made it make more sense. That's what I get for trying to keep it short and sweet.

It's natural to feel protective towards your own property.

When I picked up a new vehicle I was surprised to see a salesperson and a couple pawing over the 4X4 pressing buttons and folding over seats etc.

I stood there amused until they decided that a nice test drive was in order.

I tried to be polite but I'm sure there was a little touch-my-car-and-you'll-lose-a-limb attitude in there, I'm afraid.

Your watch was not for sale and you told him so, that's it.

If other members want to wade in knees deep with their opinions I suggest that the OP asks for one first.

BTW, I didn't say I was cool, I just said it happened.

The bit in bold is an exact quote from your first post. So is it a nod or a shake because they are intrinsically different ? Opposites of each other actually.

Now it's out of the tray ? Sounds like you're changing your story as time goes on to dig yourself out of a hole.

Do you have any idea how powerful some people in Dubai are ? For all you know he could of been a Sheikh (not sure if that's the right spelling) or something. Antagonising him when he could of been anyone was unwise to say the least. Not to mention the fact that if you had got into trouble, the UAE aren't exactly known for being co-operative with foreign governments (especially America).

You are in danger of taking this thread into the political arena.

So please don't.

Maybe I should tell a story of when I tried to buy a Mustang.

And agreed. I was just trying to give a simplified version of something that was actually kind of funny at the AD.

I never said out of the tray. Off to the side, as in down in the corner away from the ones lined up neatly. I don't have to dig myself out of anything for you.

I'm afraid this thread was always destined for the lock following comments made about Arab men, Americans abroad etc which are in themselves generalizations and will result in problems. Most generalizations do especially when made across the Internet on a worldwide forum when we are essentially unknown to each other.

This was a single incident between the OP and another gentleman. Essentially it was a misunderstanding. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's also a testament to how appealing the root beer is when placed amongst a choice of new models.
