Wrong box for 14060m?

I bought my G serial 14060m from a trusted grey dealer. Today I opened the box and noticed 116523 written on the external paper sleeve. I checked the card, receipt and everything else was okay. The box however wasn't the same as the one I had for my 16610lv v serial. This one opens from the middle upwards, with the rear part connected. Whereas the other was a regular box.

I know for a fact that Grey dealers buy boxes separately. So I'm sure they just mixed up the boxes somehow. Anyway, I really don't care much unless, it's a wrong box and might hurt the resale value?

Question, is this the correct box for a g serial sub? Is the difference because of serial or watch model (Daytona vs sub)? And should/would this affect resale value? Card and papers all correct.

What paper sleeve are you talking about?

Do you mean the cardboard one the box comes in?

I believe G serial could come with that box. That is around 2005 - 2006 if I'm not mistaken

What's shown in the photo looks identical to the box my randomly-numbered 14060M came in when I picked it up from the AD in December 2011.

It's just a box.. There isn't any special box for the 14060M. It simply takes the small size (small, medium, large), the same as most other Stainless Steel watches and the box manufacturer changes little things from time to time...

The newest boxes have a flap in front that folds down, but there are probably still plenty of the earlier boxes out and about..

Not everybody takes theirs home in a box.. some wear it out the door...

It will affect the resale value - - - NOT!

In fact, the sleeve is really superfluous - if you ever flip the watch I would buy it without the sleeve with no worries.

You just bought this watch and you're already thinking about the re-sale value!? Bud, just enjoy your Rolex. As others have said it's not worth anything.

I imagine a world where you buy a Rolex and you only get the watch. No stickers, tags, boxes, sleeves, papers, spoons, anchors, etc.

Things would be much simpler.

If the cardboard sleeve is mis-marked, then you are looking at a 25-30% hit in value right off the bat.

Based on the picture you have a mid sized box; 7.5" x 5.5" as the front outer box has a flap. Typically the box for the 14060M does not have the flap and is 6.5" X 5".

Dealers are shipped the watch in a shipping casket with warranty card and should find the correct box; however, that always doesn't happen.

As others have said, not a big deal.

Congratulations Mohammed on your Submariner!

G would be the current model of this (late 2010 to current)... G and Random appear to be released in the same time frame. As for the paper sleeve it will not make a difference and I do not even consider it necessary

Thanks for the heat guys, I was talking about the box not the paper cover. The paper cover is what threw me off, in addition to the fact that my v serial sub had a different box.

they usually have 20 boxes in the back and just pick one box out of the 20, because they dont want to look for the exact box then put the rolex which was on display into the box w. all the cards and warranty. sometimes they will leave out the rolex holder dangily cord thing.

Congratulations on your new watch as for the box well its just a packaging box nothing more.Over the past 10 -15 years with most SS watches its a bit pot luck with whatever box you get.The most important when buying new it first the watch, second the warranty if you should need it,all the rest just packaging.

For everyone that said something positive or actually answered, thank you! It's people like you that make these forums worthwhile.

For those who made a joke a about this, I've seen vintage watches sold at a discount because of missing papers, wrong (service dial) and all sort of other minor details so I thought I might as well make sure. Again I was talking about the box, not the paper sleeve. Nonetheless, some of you did make me laugh and I appreciate your participation. Oh and one more question to you guys, can I shower with my submariner on? :p j/k

As for those that were sarcastic or were frustrated with my question, the title was clear and you didn't have to read the post! You know how the saying goes; If you don't have anything nice to say, STFU !
