Rolex 118206

Hello,

I started doing some research on the price of Rolex Model 118206 once again since the U.S. market has really gotten me confused altogether.

I have messaged some friends abroad to help me out. I am waiting for replies. In the mean time i thought maybe i will start a thread here so everyone can give there insight.

I have booked 118206 PLatinum with Roman Dial for 53680 $ after discounts and all.

Here is the information as for today. After discounts and all. Dubai is offering a 15 Percent discount Max. After you negotiate with the manager and all. After taking that 15 percent dubai is offering . check the prices below

Pakistan : 53680 $
Dubai mall : Dubai 53820 $
Emirates Mall: Dubai 53820 $

The prices above are from AD of Rolex.

Now the confusing part is that in U.S. This watch is for 44000 $ after discount which is very very low then the price in Dubai and Pakistan. I googled a lot today but i cant figure out. Are there any hidden taxes etc. I mean 10,000$ difference is a lot.

I have requested someone to give me the Eu rate as well after taxes, discounts and all. IF anyone of you here knows the current rates etc please post here so i can decide what to do with my order.

Interesting, I wish I could answer your question. $10k is a lot. Maybe someone here can explain Rolex's price structure.

I just spoke to the manager of my Ad and i got some good news. I will confirm that in a while. Atm i have found this:

A used Rolex 118206 for 44000 $ on Ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-DAY-DA...item2a17832308

and a Brand new just for 45000$

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-PLATIN...item5ae5fe7a8e

cant understand if the pre owned one is for real or the Brand new one. If the brand new one is for real why is he selling it just 1000 $ more then a Pre owned one.

No idea about the price overseas, but I read a couple of threads here about people getting 30% off and one 40% in Vegas on the platinum DD at an AD. I bought one used on here and sent it to RSC first thing to get it all minty and new.

I don't see pics of the papers or mention of serial #/Letter in the auction. Some of the Ebay sellers don't include papers.

If you want a used one contact DavidSW or Elitetime. I got mine from Elitetime he seems to get them fairly often. He was going to look at one last I talked to him. PM me or email m6894@mac.com and I'll get you his cell.

DavidSW is an awesome seller and could probably get you one. I saw a Z serial in mint condition from him for 26.5k when I was searching.

Can you explain to me more about Serials. Where are they written on the watch and how much they add to the value of the watch.

Actually i just got a Call from my AD manager. I told him that i called Dubai and those guys are giving me a 10 percent discount on Phone and on shop they will definetely make it 15 percent and the same watch is available in U.S. for 10,000 $ less.

He told me that my Watch will Reach by 3rd week of June and it will be freshly made.
(how much value does that add to the watch ? )

Furthermore he said that U.S. is going through some crisis and people are selling watches at low prices which they kept for so long and hence they might be brand new but they arent fresh etc.

I told him that still the 10,000$ difference is a lot. He said he will give me further discount which he will confirm by Tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed. I hope he can get me close to the 44k $ mark offerred by the U.S. Which seems like the best atm. I would be happy at a 47k

I am no expert some one chime in at anytime.

Serial dates the watch parts to a year, for example mine was a P serial. I think p was made around 2000, papers say it was sold 2002. So if its a new one on the auction I would want to no what year Z, M act. You can google for rolex serial and find a chart that shows the years. Recently they went to random serials so no dating those.

Serial is written on the case of the watch under the bracelet end link. On newer models its also on the side of the dial where the rolexrolexrolex is.

Original warranty papers stamped by an AD have the serial also. It should match the watch, and warranty papers do add value to the watch. How much on a 118206 I have no idea.

Great. Maybe Thats its then. Maybe this explains the 44k$ U.S Price and the Dubai/Pakistan 54 K $ price. Our Watches are being made on order so they will have a Fresh Serial while the 44k One is the U.S. Might have a 4-5 years old serial key which means they would be Brand new but they would have been lying on the shelves for 5 years and a person who will buy them can claim its brand new and on the papers it would say 2012 as purchasing date but after 4 years when he sells it then maybe his serial would be that of 2007 which is Z serial .

Do you have a sales tax there? In the states that 44k would probably have 8-9% tax on top of it.

I don't think freshly made adds value on the market BNIB is BNIB as long as it isn't really old. I can see where it would be cool to get one strait from Rolex. If it adds value to you thats whats important.

Yes I would think a shop owner would be more likely to heavily discount stock thats been seeing in the shelf for 4-5 years. But on the flip side your offering your AD a zero risk deal. He orders it at his cost and its already sold. I think you have some bargaining power with that.

But wont it make a difference. Say i buy this from U.S for 44k but it carries a Z serial (2007). For 5 years it would be lying on the shelve catching some dust. If i sell it people will ask say its from 2007 while i would say No i bought it in 2012.

There wont be any sales tax on top my my 54k Buy. Thats final price i am getting after discount. If there is a 10 percent Tax in U.S then 44k also comes close to 54k but some people here told me that the 44k is with taxes. i am not sure about it

Look--that is a big price to pay for the watch period. There is no 10% tax on watches here and anyone can buy a watch from an a dealer in another state and not pay a penny in sales tax. As for made fresh for order--not sure what your AD is feeding you but Rolex doesn't make DD's fresh for order. They make watches and sell them to whoever. There are big discounts to be had on platinum and gold DD's and not Z series watches but brand new ones with latest serial numbers. If you like the watch and are happy with the price--go for it! That is all that matters in the end. Just realize as you are paying so much for it that if you ever did go to sell it you would take a 50% + haircut like it or not. That shouldn't matter to you though as you said you never will so all is fine! Congrats and look forward to seeing pictures of it when you get it.

Thanks Steelerfan for your feedback.

I have forwarded all the above prices to my AD and i am glad that i found those out just because of this forum. Wonder ful people out here. Specially Steelerfan and Raulex.
He gave me a call early morning today even its Sunday. I told him that there is a big difference in prices and i dont care if the Serial is old or new. I mean i do care but not at this big price difference.

He will update me tomorrow. Lets see what final price he comes up with . I will post that as soon as he confirms a new price to me.

Just met my Ad 30 mins back. Had a discussion with him and quoted him the rates i got

Pakistan : 53680 $
Dubai mall : Dubai 53820 $
Emirates Mall: Dubai 53820 $
Eu (Finland) : 47000 $
U.S : 44000 $ without Tax.

He said Dubai is higher to you can see our rates are good. Secondly he said i dont know when the Ad's in U.S. or Finland bought there watches and he doesnt know what series are they from. He said What if these watches they are selling are 7 years old or 5 years old. So would u prefer a new one fresh from the Factory or a 5 year old watch with old serial.

I agreed with him that i will go for a fresh piece but not on such a big margin.
He has revised his rates and this is his final Offer. Its a Take it or leave it thing.

Revised Rate:

Pakistan : 53680 $ Revised to 51000 $ Final
Dubai mall : Dubai 53820 $
Emirates Mall: Dubai 53820 $
Eu (Finland) : 47000 $
U.S : 44000 $ without Tax. hence to be fair we should add the 9 percent Tax so
U.S 48000 $

I'm no expert on this topic but what I know in life is that if you feel like your being overcharged or you can get something a lot cheaper elsewhere..

Don't buy it..

Maybe shop around because it's big money your spending so any saving is worth it.

Rolex considers any watch sold today NEW and the warranty is treated as such. I'd buy it with no worries - you can always send it in towards the end of the warranty for an assessment. If it needs service, they'll do it under warranty. All the serial number tells you is when the case was stamped and not how "fresh" the watch is - it could be an old case with new movement for all anyone knows.

+1 Time for a vacation to the US. Have an out of state AD overnight one to your hotel.

The papers when you buy are stamped and dated, thats all that matters.

But the thing is that i dont have a U.S. Visa and its very hard to get it.

The point to consider now is that should i go for a 51000$ Pakistan price or consider getting this watch from U.S via applying for a Visa which is very hard plus 3000 $ trip charges 2- 3 days and i am not sure if i will get a Tax free watch or not. Since i would have to bring it back to Asia. So lets take the price with tax which is 48000 So 51000-48000 = 3000 Difference. Is it worth to consider buying from U.S after taking into account visa, Trip charges etc to save these 3000 $

Ahh. Tax free is easy just buy from a different state than you are in. 30% off retail is $38500 and I think if you called around you could find that discount. Retails 55k right?

Sounds like the trip would be complicated. I don't know what I would do. Probably see if one of the trusted sellers here could ship me a BNIB one for a good enough price with my name on the papers, or say what the hell and buy from the AD at home.

Sometimes you just want it now, nothing wrong with that.

If you get it you have to post some pics. Mines at RSC for another two weeks......

Yes Retail is 55000 and the discount is 20 percent. so 44000 $ without Tax.

Hence 51000-44000 = 7000$ difference.-3000 $ trip charges If i get a Visa. so i save 4000 after that.

Shipping is not possible. The only possibility is that someone brings it to me in DUbai where i can come since Visa for dubai just takes 2 days and its a 2 hour air trip from Pakistan.
