JediSubExII, we were just joking around. But I do soak it for a few minutes after it's been in the ocean, like last weekend. Otherwise, it's on my wrist pretty much 24/7.

Did you go diving over the weekend? This is the best time to go around here. The weather is so nice and the water is still pretty warm.

Over time, the stem will tend to groove where the o-rings seal around the shaft. This combined with the rubber deterioration or imbrittlement leaves an easy path for dirt and water.

The Twinlock uses a single o-ring around the stem shaft and an o-ring gasket in the crown to seal.

A new Triplock uses 2 o-rings around the stem shaft, a third in the crown, and a 4th around the tube (the visible one).

I did go diving this past weekend in Puget Sound and hated every minute of it. It rained, off and on, all weekend. The water was cold. Visibility was poor, about 20 feet max, but actually that hardly mattered as there was nothing to see where we were anyway except for some pylons, a toilet, a VW Beetle and other assorted junk planted down there for compass navigation exercises.

But I had to do it to qualify for Advanced Open Water certification, so I can dive the Great Blue Hole next summer.

I have to go back in a couple of weeks to get my nitrox certification. As you can probably tell, I'm not looking forward to it.

Basically, I'm a just a Warm Water Wussie.

I saw that episode of Cousteau like 20 years ago and still remember it, must be very special to dive there, good luck with your exams.

That sounds alot like the dives off the coast of VA. NC is generally a lot better viz and temp b/c you get more of the Gulf stream. Congrats on your AOW! You will like the nitrox especially for some of the deeper dives. Some people say they feel better after diving with nitrox, not so worn out, but I've never really been able to tell much of a difference.

The Blue Hole is definitely on my to do list. If only there was wreck down there.

Thanks, guys. From what I hear, the Blue Hole is the sort of dive everyone should do once--and that's it. Apparently, there's not a lot to see down there and at 130 feet you can only hang around a few minutes before it's time to start the trek back up.

We're going to be staying for two weeks at a diving lodge, which like most of these operations goes to the same dives weekly. So chances are I'll skip the BH the second week and just hang out for the day on a hammock, something I'm really, really good at if I do say so myself.
