Is buying a Rolex in oz cheaper than you buying one in US?

But don't you import a Rolex every time you enter the US with one on your wrist? Is it only OK if someone "accompanies" the watch?

I really don't understand this US law. In the UK I am sure you might get stuck for customs duty but that is all. A private individual can buy retail from anywhere they want. An importer's legal contract would only cover their element of the supply-chain.

It must have been done to not only combat fakes (stop anything that says rolex, even the real ones) but to stop the potential flood of Rolexes into the US from other countries around the world hitting the black market.

Think about it.......... all of a sudden Europe or South East Asia goes into recession and some AD thinks "hey, I'll send a couple dozen watches to my cousin in NY and he'll move em for me."

IMHO

I have not experienced this but I was told (maybe by an AD?) that you can enter the US only with ONE Rolex with you.

If caught with more than one Rolex piece you may be subject to thorough cavity searches and confiscation of the watches (ok, I made up this last part)

I still dont see the issue , even with this unlikely scenario. Free market , supply and demand.

It works with most other commodities around the world , why not Rolex watches in the US ?

Also surely this scenario would help the struggling countries to do trade and do business with other parts of the world.....globalisation.

We'll I would do it if I was a Rolex dealer.
Sold is sold . . . . watches need to move . . . money needs to move
You see members complaining that the serial numbers on their Rolex are a few years old at their local AD . . . . problem solved !
Why not ?

So it should be the same with the Chinese and Japanese people buying Louis Vuitton, Prada, Rolex, etc here in Europe ?
The stores are crowded with Asian customers the last 5 years, day in day out.
Good for our local economy
Good for LV, Prada, Rolex, etc . . did you already checked their company sales figures ?
Increasing each year . . . their stock goes up by 15 % and more each year.
Check the numbers on LVMH . . . . amazing . . . profit increases each year.

BTW : I bought my Rolex in the US. . . . so I might be a criminal according to Rolex ;-)

Or not ?

You can wear a "personal" watch, you just can`t import them by the dozen in your luggage,or ship them in numbers.Bringing in a box and papers without the watch is meaningless as far as customs is concerned I would think.
