No right or wrong answer. Depends on you. I wouldn't but that's just me.

The question I have is that will it be worth trading your current collection for a fraction of the vaule yet alone the emotional value for 1 time piece. If you can part ways and know that each piece will not be missed then move forward. If that is a negative, start saving!

I would do it. The DDII and Speedy would be a great duo.

I always have this strategy in the back of my mind. My short-term grail is a 116619LB WG Submariner. I think I like having the variety of multiple pieces, but I did wear my TT 16613 Submariner for about 12 years (24/7) until I started to build the collection and was completely happy with just one watch.
It is always tempting to push all your chips into the center of the table and be able to wear a true grail everyday. I have certainly come close a number of times, but could never quite pull the trigger. Good luck in your decision. Let me know how it turns out!

This all started with me looking at an EXP II; but I got to thinking how many do I need and how much do I really wear them (limited at work; mostly traveling, nites and weekends).
Then i saw a DDII Blue Wave Pic and keep coming back to it... |

for a second there my dyslexia thought i read "start starving" instead of start saving. I guess if i was going to pull the trigger on a DD2 i would need to starve to save |

Go for it. I traded my Exp II + Cash for a pre- loved DD, and wear it every day; work, the beach, the pool, you name it.

I like Charles' "all in" analogy. I'm pushing the limit of what I can reasonably wear in a month. In fact, many of my pieces have not seen the light of day outside the bank. I'm trying to get my collection consolidated but it seems one goes out and two come in.

I disagree with the one watch 'special' assertion. Each and every watch I currently own has a firm place in my heart. I know because I think about them even when they're not on my wrist.....tossing up which one I'll go to next.....what's on at work that day.....whether I'm coming home before going out in the evening etc etc. I rotate at different speeds also..
In terms of the wach you're looking at. You have stated that you've only see it in pics? I may be mistaken......Have you tried it on? There is no way I'd go for a watch of that magnitude without having put it on my wrist. If you have and it honestly made you're heart melt then sure....if you're prepared to get rid of your others it actually says as much about your relationship with them as it does with the one you desire. Good luck in any case.....but be sure. It's a huge move.

Have had on wrist (not fitted) very briefly. Again, started out looking at the EXPII but then really started considering moving to one (2) watches rather than adding to collection now...Just have to try and make a decision

Imo the only way you could live with one Rolex would necessitate staying off TRF.
In other words, can't be done. |

I've never done it before.
But I would consider it if I thought I could be a 1 watch guy..

Don't know if I could handle moving to only 1 watch AND staying away from TRF...too much withdrawal (but I may actually be more productive at work)
After a nites sleep I'm still torn ... |
