Hacked to change date, didn't start fright up- is this normal ?
Today I unscrewed my crown on my 6 month old DJ and pulled it out to the first stop (date advance position). Advanced the date wheel to the 1st of the month. This is only the 3rd time I've had it where the previous month had fewer than 31 days requiring a manual date change.
When I pushed in the crown the watch did not immediately restart. I had to tap the dial lightly to jog it into running again. Is this normal? Sort of possible issue ? A definite problem??? Let me know your thoughts please. |

Is it possible the watch just needs a good manual wind? 40-50 complete turns of the crown... I like to do this to all my automatic watches every week or two.
When is the last time you have performed a full manual wind?

I've heard of it happening before. My guess is a lower power reserve.

If you were just changing the date, the second hand wouldn't have been stopped. If the second hand were stopped while changing the date, there was probably no power (very little power) left in the mainspring. At least this how I understand it...

I would give the watch 40 winds, and you should be good to go.
