Welcome 'Omega Glasgow Boutique'.
Still in a bit of shock
I needed to have my bracelet adjusted today and headed down to see my AD in the Argyll Arcade, Buchanan St. Glasgow. There 'right at the entrance' was a new 'Omega Boutique' under construction - Prime position - Wow. That was the first shock. Second shock was when I went into my AD, Laing's Glasgow, to find out that they no longer carried the brand. Plenty of Rolex, Cartier, IWC, TAG etc but not an Omega on site. There are currently still two other Omega dealers in Glasgow, Watches of Switzerland and Mappin & Webb, but for how much longer? I looked in the window of WOS and it looked like something out of the dark ages. Boring, dull and out of date. Well done Omega Lets get this brand positioned where it should be in the market place and bring us into the exciting modern world that Omega deserves to be part of. Goodbye to boring WOS - Welcome 'Omega Glasgow Boutique' The new boutique build is in the early stages but I for one can't wait. Pictures later. |

This is the old 'Goldsmiths' site where the boutique will be sited. It looks 'very' likely that Goldsmiths will be managing the 'franchise' as they have already done in Brent Cross in London.
You can just see the main entrance to The Argyll Arcade to the right hand side. Prime position. Anyone looking for a part time job? |

Omega's policy is to close all agencies within a 5 mile radius when a boutique opens up

Hi Chris
Can't say I'm that disappointed.
I hope that Goldsmiths takes the bull by the horns and really gives the brand the presence it deserves. |

I'll need to head in for a look once its finished
You mentioned WOS in the arcade - that was were my brother got his liquid metal PO 4 weeks ago. It was the only one they had & literally just in. There were 2 salesmen when we went in - one in particular was highly impressive !! Knew his stuff, no hard sell, no problem with whatever we wanted to try on. We were in for well over an hour & tried on a lot of watches. I got my SD from laings about 6 years ago & never darkened their doors since but thats another story |

I went into WOS when I was shopping for my PO and wasn't quite so fortunate but that was over a year ago. On the other hand I was very well looked after at Laing's - We're a funny lot us Scots! We rarely complain - we just never go back! |

Laings is outstanding. They have so many rolex, PP, IWC, now JLC, Bell and Ross, Bremont etc . Everytime i am back in glasgow i go in for about an hour or 2 and just sit trying on watches and chatting!!! They have no need to stock omega IMHO as they can be had readily elsewhere

The boutique stores are excellent in that they always carry the newest and biggest range and have the best displays but I personally would never buy from them as (at least the ones here in Australia) won't deviate from the MRSP.

The current recession has unfortunately meant that, sadly, many AD's know the price of everything and the value of nothing. This type of dealing needs to be stamped out if the brand is ever going to be able to take on 'the big players'. Desirability will improve and along with new product the brand will strengthen in all areas. It won't happen overnight but it will happen. Look at the mess Breitling are in. This has been known since August last year, and you are right it will be Goldsmiths that will run the new boutique, as for Laings you know that new extension they have? When they got that *Sept last year iirc* they shifted their Omega stock -20%.
