It’s probably just me, but I like the look of the strap better before it patinas. I really love the honey gold color it is when it’s new out of the bag. It turns too brown after it patinas and may as well get a brown version to start with. I know there’s no stopping the patina and I do like the look of the strap after it’s worn, but the way it looks when it’s new is superior imho.
This is on my short list of straps to buy in the near future |

Being a split brushed hide it attracts the dust, dirt and moisture quickly rather than a top hide which has usually been treated to dissuade the patina happening as quickly.
Gloss straps are near impossible ot payina without evidence of contstant wear. The JV /nubuck/suede formula provides patina quickly, expeciially if the watch doesn't frequent tougher situations or less caring owners. Personally, patina is a good thing, but generally I don't require a JV to get it quickly, with most straps! That said, the colours are goodand some of the aftermarket sellers also provide a range of "start" colours which make the journey interesting. Ahh, the diversity of Panerais simplicity. |

Putting aside the hype surrounding the JV - I think it has a very nice color(s) which goes well with man models, it has the lovely OEM gator scaling, and fact that it patina's / changes color over time gives it a very interesting/personal twist - kind of like something you made uniquely your own.
Honestly though, given limited funds, and if I had to pick just ONE OEM gator, i would probably go with one of the browns rather than the JV as you can get a similar look/feel other options. Just IMHO.

Beautiful strap!
I just joined the Panerai club compliments of my wife. She picked up a PAM 359 for my 40th birthday, and the JV has been tucked away for Father's Day. I can't wait to get them together. I think the strap / dial combination should look great. How long have you been wearing the strap for it to achieve that colour? |

I love JV but my patina is SO slow in developing... I probably need to baby my watch less.

Now that your APs are in for service, your 233 should get more wrist time thereby developing your patina. Enjoy!

Wow, that looks great. I'm looking to pick up a PAM again and might have to consider picking one of these up.
