Fewer Rolex watches to the USA?

Stopped by my local AD today and was surprised to see no Rolex watches. I asked what was going on and was told they had been asked to consolidate - they have another store about 10 miles away - by Rolex. So they sent all their watches to their other store. They went on to say they were told that Rolex was going to be sending relatively more watches to Asia and relatively fewer to the US. I understand that AD's likely don't have the full story and maybe this is old news, but I found it surprising. Any validity to this?

Old story, it's been going in this direction for awhile now. Unfortunately you may have just noticed it because it affected one of the stores close to you. But yes they have been reducing the less profitable stores and those not following or doing what Rolex wants for awhile now.

An AD I spoke to here in Australia earlier this year alluded to the same thing. He said people were having to wait longer for a sub (116610) here as Rolex were supplying more watches to the Asian market.

Asia is a growing economy.

US is a stagnant economy.

Makes sense.

Unfortunately it's the state of our economy. I was fortunate enough to get a fantastic deal on a 1.5 year old CPO C4s 3 years ago. The dealer stated that he expected CPO cars to actually go up in value as the total supply would drop with Porsche sending a lot more cars to the middle east and Asia. Luxury automobile and goods are heading away from our shores.

The good news is that the selection for the remaining ADs or those doing a good business here in the states seems to be pretty good.

It's not unlike the US car manufactures. They were overbuilding in the US even before the down turn. They too had to reduce there dealerships to remain profitable.

This is the word from my AD. It's the SS Subs that are getting harder to get. There seems to be a plethora of precious metal watches or that was the case around Christmas last year.

I think there is a lot of AD consolidation going on. My North FL AD never had much in his case and was always complaining that he couldnt get more. On the other hand, Every Mayor's will have multiple SS Subs and LVcs for sale at MSRP.

The Chinese and Indian markets will dictate how the the world is going to run; already the motoring market is targeting the nouveau riche.

It is very understandable that both these nations have not had money to spend for many years and now they have became very rich so obviously they will buy everything materialistic insight. It is how amazing that not just the market over there is doing well; over here in the UK the Chinese are spending their new found wealth. In the UK there are out of town shopping retail outlets selling discounted designer brands. There is one at Bicester and for the last few years the place has been propped up by the spending power of the Chinese tourists and students.

You're half right. I'll bet on free democracies over unpopular communist regimes every time.

No, because of the 1 billion who are doing the dirty work

I haven't seen a Submariner in the Helsinki AD for a year!

LV ceramic has about a 6 month wait!

Luckily JLC has 0 month wait.

I enjoy Rolex but I'll tell ya....the pricing is out of hand. If they prefer to send product to other countries...c ya! I got mine and can only wear one at a time. Mayors will never get my, business and I won't pay MSRP.
