Help identifying Unicorn-branded watch
I'm a complete newbie here, but I hope some of you fine folks can help me. I've just inherited an old wristwatch which has supposedly been passed down from my great-grandfather. I have a hunch it is from about 1920, and from various sources online I have picked up a few clues to its origin:
The brand name Unicorn I gather was a sub-brand of Rolex. Inside the back of the watch is the mark of R.W.C.Ltd, which I gather siginifies Rolex Watch Company. The wire lugs for attaching a strap appear to be soldered on, which I gather indicates that it might be from the first world war or after. Apart from that, I know nothing. I have tried to find out how to make sense of other markings inside the back of the watch, but without success. On a couple of auction sites I have seen watches that were superficially similar, but the closest model I have seen to this one has the XII in red and a different set of hands. Can anyone help? I'll attach some photos. Thanks in anticipation! https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-c.../mechanism.jpg |

Looks like it is from the 20s. These are an interesting part of Rolex history but not valuable. The dial appears to be original but could have been touched up. If you inherited this piece then cherish it for the fact it has been handed down.
Welcome To TRF.
