New member, first Rolex!
Hey everyone,
I've had my eye on this site for a while and just got a Rolex Submariner for my University graduation. This is the stainless steel model, ceramic bezel black/black. I think it is 11660LN or something :P. I've actually had to wind it twice since owning it for 4 days. The first time was after unboxing where I wound it 20 times. Then I put the watch away because I got scared to use it. The second time I wound it was today, 40 times. Hopefully I didn't damage the crown!! I'm still not used to a non-battery watch as I am coming from ToyWatch haha. Huge upgrade! Quick question though, when I unscrew the crown, just before it goes into winding position will it have like a click sound? It seems like it springs out a little, sorta like relieving itself from pressure. I just really hope I didn't already damage it |

First welcome to TRF and congrats on a great watch.
 Post some wrist pics when you get a chance. So start by taking a deep breath. You've done nothing to harm your watch. The crown will spring out to position 1 when you unscrew it for winding. After that you can pull it our further to set the date and time. Winding 40 times will not hurt the watch. Start wearing it now.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I generally work in front of a computer every day so my watch always scratches against the table... I guess I need to get used to that before I start regularly wearing my watch

let's get some wrist shots please when you get a chance. Don't worry about getting scratches on it. i was the same when i first got mine. Now mines full of scratches. But you buy it to enjoy it. Not for it to sit in a box. Also when you send it in for servicing it will come back as good as new with scratches all gone

Awesome choice indeed. Your SubC (Submariner Ceramic model- time to fill you in with our lingo!) is built to last. Later down track, your son, his son, and then his son after that will own it! I have one too, and tell you what... it's tough as nails and can take anything that life throws at it. Scratches on watches are like death and taxes - it's the only certainties in life, so don't be too overprotective with it. I'm not saying go out and bash it around the place carelessly, but at the same time, do not be too paranoid and overly protective about it, cos inevitably, it will get scratched, and when it happens, you'll only beat yourself up about it and feel like crap. So just enjoy it and not worry too much! Besides, a well-worn, well-aged Rolex adds to its charm and character, and in it will shine your personality and who you are. Let it accompany you through life from now on. Just like a life companion! Cheers and enjoy it! Looking forward to seeing pics! Cos as we say here in the Forum... "Pics please, or it didn't happen"! Thanks for the warm welcomes again, but I have another question... My AD said the glide lock clasp can be adjusted so I was playing around with it today and noticed every time I lock it in place, it can still shift 0.5mm-1mm if I gently push or tug at it. Is this normal?

I experience about the same amount of give in my glidelock. I got a Sub C as well. Happy to hear you've joined with me!
