My new 46yo 1675
So I posted this deep in another thread but wanted to show you guys my new toy and ask a question or two. I purchased this from my Rolex AD. It's a 1.9m serial and a Mk1 dial. Hands and dial seem to be close in age, bezel is a later replacement. Did I miss anything?
I'm pretty excited about this one. Great vintage piece at a nice price.

Congratulations, it looks ripe and pretty original except for the insert, but heck that happens if anyone actually wore their Rolex.....
We have plenty of 1675 fans and experts, congratulations |

Thanks!
I know my way around the GMTs but some of the cats around here take me to school. My AD's watchmaker wants the movement to completely service it before I get it. He won't touch any of the hands or dial etc etc. I like the bezel but I know he has some old inserts laying around so maybe I can get a fat font off of him to complete it.

what are the first 2 digits o fthe serial number? does it place it around 1966?
it looks like a nice daily driver with an authentic bezel insert. i dont like the lume plots. maybe i am wrong, but it could be a relumed dial. they should me more crisp that they appear. Harry |

Lume is a little flakey in spots. Both the watchmaker and I were happy it wasn't a redial. It's a 1.9m

OK - the triangle and the 2 rectangular plots seem to have irregular borders. do they still glow in the dark?
anyway, its a nice watch regardless. i am curious to know if 1966 had the small 24 hour hand or the larger one you have on your piece |

Yeah the small hand defiantly predates a 1.9m.

Although not set in stone and with a variance of a couple of years, 1.9 mil puts it at 1968. Have you removed the case back to look ay the date stamp to see what it says? Also, the GMT hand is obscuring the "E" in Rolex, unless I missed an image. Does he middle line of the "E" show the same length as the other two lines or is it shorter? This would determine if it is a MK1 dial, which would be the correct dial for a 1.9 mil GMT.

Yeah the E confirms its a Mk1. I will have my AD take a peek at the caseback and photograph it for me. He wants the watch fully serviced and warrantied before I get my fingers on it.

Nice GMT. From what I see in the photo, and hopefully I'm not looking at different pic than others here, the dial, hands and insert appear original for 1968 vintage. What makes you think the bezel insert (I assume you mean bezel insert when you wrote bezel) has been replaced? It appears to be an original, fat font insert. If the back is red, it is probably original. The stainless bezel appears original based on the wear apparent in the photos. The case looks very nice for its age.
Enjoy!

Hi is there a good resource online for the different dial variations for the 1675? I've been wondering about the different "mark" dials on the GMT.

Hey Springer. I only had the watch in my hands for 10 minutes after I bought it and looking at the photos i was thinking the fat font is a tiny bit more fat so to speak. The more I compare photos elsewhere on here, it does appear to be a FF. My watchmaker at the AD has a list of things I'd like photos of including the movement and the bezel insert. He's going to clean the case and bezel ring. No polishing, just a full movement service. The case edges are nice and crisp and it seems the polishing done on it during its life has been well-executed.
