Need Your Opinions On This
Hello everyone. I was just browsing flea-bay for no reason when I ran across this. http://cgi.ebay.com/1998-ROLEX-16610...QQcmdZViewItem What are your opinions on this? I thought that it was a fairly good price, but maybe a little high.
Thanks, Tyler

Hmmm. That is a really good price. My parents just won't drop that much. I don't have 4 grand lying around either. Darn.

Well, if DATE is NOT an issue with you, Tyler...you can NEVER go wrong with the 14060M no-date Sub.
![]() ![]() ![]() The sheer aesthetics and symmetry of that beautiful dial will send you into raptures. Just go BRAND NEW, my friend. I would rather pay around $3,000 for a NEW ND-Sub than an old dated one. And that's good advice, my young friend...straight from the horse's mouth!! Sheesh....did I just say that? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...prclo=&saprchi= There are some reasonably good deals there. But there are also a lot of fakes. If you see one that really interests you, bring it here and we'll vett it for you. BTW, how much will your folks let you spend on one at this point?

Will the new 1460M have the Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified on the dial? Because that model is COSC certified isn't it?

My sister, Nina, bought the very base model and it's working like a dream...virtually spot-on from day one...which is well over a month (purchased on 22nd October). As I said, if the absence of date doesn't worry you, then there's no better watch out there than a ND-Sub. Of course, with all due respect to Explorer owners, that one's got a superb movement too, but the 36 mm size may not appeal to all concerned. Cheers - JJ ![]() My sister's brand new F-series Rolex Oyster Perpetual. ![]()

Tyler, From what I hear my watch guy tell me there are 2 trains of thought here on vintage vs. modern. Quality in the vintage movements vs. modern meaning (his words) older movements were better quality. Is this a true statement I don't know for I'm not that informed on this aspect. Anyone else?

That price is a little high for a U Series Sub. I picked up a really clean U Series Explorer II about 6 months ago for $2300. When buying a pre-owned Rolex, you need to factor in the cost of a service from Rolex which will run you about $500. An 8 year old Sub probalby will need to be serviced. That puts that U Series at about $3700. Compare that to new and you're better off buying new.
JJ's right....the 14060M will not have SCOC on the dial. In my book, that's a good thing. Look how clean the dial is. ![]() |
