Forum WIDE GTG

Has anyone ever tried to do a Forum Wide GTG?
Say like in London or NYC or California (San Diego or San Fran)?

Many of us Yanks travel to those locations often and many of those from Europe and/or Asia would like to go to those locations sooner or later???

Maybe plan it ahead 6 months out...

Just wondering if it was ever done...or if only local types have been tried.

They attempted one in Vegas not too long ago.

Some members, maybe one or two were able to attend from overseas.

I can't remember but then again I was unable to attend.

Not a bad idea, but maybe in reality a bit difficult to pull off.

Absolutely, it would be amazing if we could pull it off.

Well, there are over 78,000 members of TRF. If even 1/10th of the membership showed up, you're looking at a boat load of people. You'ld be lucky to get 1% of the total membership for a forum-wide GTG.

I can do New York almost anytime; London once or twice a year - always in mid-February; and So. Florida when I feel like it.

You might not get everyone in one place but you could have multiple GTGs around the world at the same time and hoist in unison. We recently had a toast for a friend that crashed his aircraft with several hundred across the US and dozens more overseas - it was impressive.

This actually gets my vote.

I think this actually has more of a chance than just the one site GTG. More participation and maybe we can link the groups via skype or something.

We linked up via a Private Group on Facebook but it worked out well and we were able to share images and such - of course we only had 6 timezones to worry about

Picking a date and getting volunteers to be in charge of their respective areas would seem to be the next steps if we really wanted to make this thing happen.

We did that a couple years ago. It worked but everyone either talked at once or it was silence. Difficult to keep flowing unless one person took the job of moderator/ interviewer to address all the others.

As a veteran of many large and small GTG's in the US, Caribbean, and London, I can confirm the difficulty in organizing a successful event. Unless someone sets the dates, times, and location[s] it will remain just an idea, I'm afraid.

Back in 2006, I was fortunate enough to attend a GTG in Toronto.

We all met up at RDV, and then headed for dinner at The Liberty.

These were the watches that showed up... back then I had the 14060 and my SMP Chrono.

Even RockRolex showed up :p

Atlanta would be a great choice of city (or one of the US sites).

Well if we could generate enough interest, I'm sure a there would be some members who would volunteer to lend a helping hand.
