Lume off
Ok - got the message loud and clear on my Pam 190 review that I was too harsh on the lume count. I decided to hold a 'lume off'. Charged both a standard issue Rolex Sub C and the Pam 190 up equally. This is what they look like:
![]() I gave the Pam 6/10 and the Rolex 8/10. Did I get it wrong? Which do you prefer lume wise: Pam 190 or Rolex Sub C? Greg |

The real test is to charge them up at 10pm and check them both with one eye open at 3am.
IMO a pix after a charge doesn't mean a lot as the reduction of lume is geometricaly equal to the quality/quantity of the luminova. ![]() ![]() The best one is my tritium tubed Ball Fireman II.

Not sure if this is true for superluminova, but I know that for tritium tubes, green trits are perceived by our eye to be much brighter than blue trits.

You need to blast both equally until glowing like a torch. Then leave them side by side in a pitch black room. Take a pic every hour for 8 hours. then post again. :)
(8 pics or it didn't happen, properly.) :) |

Panerai lume is very good, and the Rolex blue lume ('Chromalight') is cool - especially on the new Explorer II
Ball gas tubes are a must for lume afficionados - other companies use them as well (Deep Blue, et al)

It is all subjective really. My unofficial thoughts are that the Panerai Lume last longer than the Rolex I have (16610 and the 116710LN I had). The blue is REALLY bright in the begining, but I felt it doesn't last as long.
I remembered squinting at my Rolex in the middle of the night, but the Panerai was easy to read. Could also have something to do with the size. ![]()

Hmmm. Well, there is a reason they call it a LUMinor. Panerai gets my vote, hands down. That pic you took was probably the first few seconds after charging.

Pam hands down
important for me is the lume on the hands... the hour markers are really insignificant in telling the time.
