I like the polished center links just so that I can say that my watch has "PCLs". It sounds really technical and important.

That looks terrific. My biggest fear of the DIY approach with a Bergeon bar or Scotchbrite pad is that I'll still have polished finish down between the links. It looks like your brushed finish is on the entire link. Do you think the jeweler took the bracelet apart and did each link individually to achieve that?

I was quoted $100 to have my bracelet rebrushed so it couldnt be a whole lot more than that..

yes it's easily reversible but everytime you brush/repolish you are removing metal. From what I recall after 6 polishes RSC deem too much metal has been removed and a new bracelet is required...
Look at the clasp crown on older subs/gmts etc that come up for sale. You can see the crown gets worn down quite quickly on clasps that have been polished. This should give you an idea of how much metal is being removed every time.. |

My GMT was brushed for $50 by a local independent Rolex watchmaker. He let me know that he took great care not to brush the crown on the band.

I like the brushed look, but I wouldn't do this to the PCL on the GMTiic. It messes with me too much not having it "OEM" style, and I wouldn't want to pay money to have it reversed(or worse have to buy new bracelet).
I think it looks great, but I'd prefer if left alone. All original! It does look really nice though. All Rolex "tool" watches should have all brushed. |

Looks great. I'll probably do the same when my GMT get some more scratches :)
