Rolex trained technicians at local jeweler
I've been checking out the different Rolex forums for some general information, as I'm about to land my first Rolex. Have to say I've had some interesting reading. This is by far the easiest to navigate and user friendly forum I've run across .
Have a question for you all. Is there such a thing as a Rolex factory trained technician who would be working at your local jewelry store who could bring a Rolex up to snuff? My wife bought a Rolex in Switzerland about 7 years ago. Never had it serviced. Part of the crystal broke off on the inside and inhibited the hands from moving. She called around and was referred to a jewelry store who had an onsite technician. They had to order some parts, when they were done it came back looking like new. After reading on the forums, I'm wondering if this was legit. Thanks in advance for the replies. |

Hi mate,
And a big welcome to this forum. To answer your question (which is a good one, by the way), if your jeweller happens to be an Authorised Dealer (AD) for Rolex, then rest assured his watchmaker will be Rolex trained. I wouldn't recommend you take a Rolex in to any jeweller unless you are 100% sure that the watchmaker there knows how to handle a Rolex. For that matter, buy your Rolex from an AD only to be absolutely sure you're getting the real McCoy. Cheers - JJ |

JJ is quite right. You can also take/send it to Rolex Beverley Hills, their info is on rolex.com.
And a huge welcome to the forum, please stick around and enjoy yourself!! |

Thanks for the warm welcome!!! and the info.
Wondered what AD was, see it posted all over. They are an AD. Hopefully my stainless and gold yachtmaster with mother of pearl dial and diamonds and sapphires will be here shortly. Ordered it before I got to reading all these forums about how the YM is a work watch, etc, etc. I saw the ladies version and loved it. I guess what matters is what others have said, buy it for yourself because you like it (although I'm not the one shelling out the cash for it). |

Like AJ said welcome to the madness, and Earl remember we're not ALL Rolex owners *cough me cough*. Any way welcome to the forum. Just go on their advice cause most people don't want to listen to a 13 year old.

Between you forgetting your manners and your spelling earlier, me thinks someone enjoyed the 4th of July.

To be honest with you any half descent watchmaker could service most Rolex movements. Its not rocket science, the problem is unless they are Rolex Authorised
they would not be able to get genuine Rolex parts. But for regulation, crystal replacement anything like that,AD in-house technician could easily do.And about 4 years ago, while in Rhodes I dropped my Sd in the bathroom. And the timing when crazy, went to the AD in Rhodes town.He had the back off told me what was wrong something to do with the balance wheel. He said call back in 3 hours, when I went back watch was fixed, and they had given it a polish |

As for your incoming YM, sounds like a bling watch. Can't wait to see some pics when you get it. And you must have some nice sugar daddy (or mommy). Can I join your family?

Your new YM sounds absolutely GORGEOUS!
If you can't find someone to take photos for you just send it to me. I should be able to get some taken in a few weeks. Congratulations and by all means welcome to the group. Richard |

Thanks all.
The wifey is picking this up for me. Probably some guilt over all the $$$ I've spent over the years on her jewelry. I'll have to have her call to see when I can expect it. I'll get some shots up when it comes in. |

Wilkommen
Rxx2 (Rex),
Welcome to the asylum. We are all generally harmless, except me! But I'm only a hazard to myself and others. (and structures, vehicles, forests, appliances, oh you get the point!) The new watch sounds like a beaut! I'm, unfortunately, terribly unsophisticated and could never pull off such a "bling" factor! But I must concur with the other loons. We need pics ASAP! Gun |
