15300 breaking my heart

I returned to Edinburgh, the city of my birth, this weekend for fun, frivolity (and alcohol!) at the annual Festival.

Obviously I had to visit the high-end watch shops while I was there (much to the Long-Haired General's delight!) and I made the HUGE mistake of trying on a white dialed AP 15300...

Please guys regale me with tales of how awful they are so that I can banish the covetous little demons from my mind!!!

Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done now. I think you need a little bit of motivation and instigation. Check my thread AP 15300 Back from New England so you just go ahead and pull the trigger on that puppy.

Alas the problem is business is a bit quiet at the moment and if I pulled the trigger on an £11,000 watch my Long-Haired General would give me a ten yard head start before pulling BOTH triggers of my 12 bore!!!!

Sorry mate but you're, as they say, "screwed". (Get the pun?) Once you go down this road, there is no turning back. Save up a bit and sell something then never look back.

I fear you're right! I'm just lacking the "cunning plan"... But I'll Need to get a move on since the size/shape/dimensions were PERFECT so, nice as it is, a 15400 just wouldn't cut it.

You don't have to tell me twice, that's why I just got a 39mm ROC. Was a much better fit for me than the new 41mm one. But GBP11k is a bit much, you can do MUCH better from the trusted sellers here in USD.

Very true.

The only thing that worries me is getting hit for a huge import duty. (hmm...excuse for a trip to the states to bring it back in person...?)

The other thought I'm having is that the AD I went to does 0% finance. I know there is a good argument that one should never finance luxuary items but at 0% I can see a bit of sense in it. I'm not in the position to hand over anything like £11k at the moment but could find a few hundred a month easily enough after al the "real" bills were take care of.

I don't know anything about import duties, but a plane ticket to NY for a nice weekend with the wife might be worth it.

0% is NOT 0%. You are paying over 30% difference between retail and street pricing and that is one hell of an interest rate. Don't do it. Just wait until you can afford it and buy with cash. 15300 is super popular so supply should not be an issue down the line.

Thanks mate!

I'm not very "up" on AP so I hadn't realised the price difference would be THAT significant!
I'd have to figure in the extra spending money to keep the L-HG on side in NYC though!

Great pics!!!

Love the contrasting colors of the PP and AP....(man, I spend way too much in this forum!)

But the white AP takes the pie! =)

Go for it. I went through the same thing as well between 15300 and 15400. My AD had the white dial 15300 one week and when I decided to get it the next week, it was gone. Good old DavidSW stepped up with the 15400 black dial. Go for it if it's available. Good Luck!

Wait Mark! Come on now, be serious!

I mean, Audemars Piguet is just good to make big rappers' watches...those pieces have no class at all...it's not even a status symbol like a Rolex, just a big bulky Stallone-ish watch...

...

...

...

...Oh, heck, I'm unable to help you out, buy that beauty and be happy!

A good man...? Where...?!?

I guess I have to take the blame for the enabling... putting a thread on the AP forum asking to be talked down was only ever going to go one way!
