Rolex Datejust 1972 questions
Hi All
After a long search I bought a 1972 Rolex Datejust 1601 in Bi-colour from a local watchmaker. The contract states that I can return the watch if something is wrong with it. I discovered the following problem The serial Number is 3644XXX But inside the case back the number is D572087 1601 My question: has the back of the watch been changed to a newer one (which would make it a 2005) or are these numbers not related? Thank you so much in advance. Chris |

Those two numbers are unrelated, the watch should be fine.

There should not be a serial number inside the caseback. Some photos would be nice.
What number does it read between the lugs at the six o'clock position?

The number inside the caseback could be a service number/code from a prior service. Would Be engraved/scratched or sharpied in, not stamped. Pics would help.
