how much for crown replacement?
Hi Forums,
I have a rolex datejust 2 (steel and gold), roman numneral dials. I have just sent it to rolex as I have damaged the 18k gold crown, the dealer could not give me a estimate cost of the replacement. Can anyone help by giving me an idea of how much this will set me back? Many thanks. |

You will get an itemized invoice from Rolex before they do the work..
This will likely include a service since they don't know what may be wrong inside. Additionally, they will probably want to replace the tube that the crown screws into as well. It will likely be around 800 bucks for this.

Once Rolex receives your watch they will be able to tell you how much the repairs will be before they do them.

I had a crown/tube job done recently on a Steel Sub, and it was about a $300 job.

A crown & crown tube replacement should be considerably below a full service.
My guess is that RSC will send you an estimate of $300-400 USD. I had this done to a screw-down crown Bulova for $40 with new aftermarket parts. Not happening with a Rolex. Keep us posted once the estimate arrives. |

I just had my 16800 Submariner tube and crown replaced on site at an AD for $120 dollars (US). The key here is that the watchmaker ordered the parts and did the work himself at the store. Sending the watch to Rolex certainly would have yielded a higher more expansive estimate.
