SMP Titane Chrono
I find myself liking this... Used, titanium and in good shape, what kind of price would you think reasonable??? Thanks in advance...

Thanks Bo, the asking price is more than that... I'm having second thoughts about this particular watch. The bezel needs replacing but... I like the looks and the titanium part. I'm thinking it could be a novel alternative to a Sub as I already have a GMT. A less expensive, light, deeper rated 'beater' watch could have it's place in my current collection. I'll continue to research but finding Ti versions of the SMP and pricing seems to be a tough prospect. Not common... Thx again Bo.

If you can find one or know of one for $800 please let me know as I'd buy it right now!

I paid $2399 for mine new 2 months ago. Depending on the age... $1200?
By the way... It's a very heavy watch. It's my daily beater and I get many nice comments about it from people. Enjoy! |

Thanks Ron... That gives me a price point to go from. You are talking about the Titanium version, right? Heavy? I've got a watch that weighs in @ 153 grams and it's no problem but... I would expect the titanium version to weight much less than that. More like 125 grams or so... I see this watch advertised in SS at many retailers, the titanium version, not so much. (at all actually, yet to see one)

1200 would be WAY too low!
Omegas tend to go for 50 to 60% MSRP on the preowned market. That chronograph has an MSRP of 3250 in SS, and Omega usually charges between 900 and 1000 more the the full NASA grade Ti models. Therefore, I would pay a maximum amount of 2k to 2.1k for the Seamaster Professional in Ti. Look at the bright side: You can use the pushers under water, all the way to 1000 feet! The Seamaster Pro line is the only line of mechanical chronographs that can be operated under water.

As far as I know, all the Seamaster Professional chrono divers are suitable for chrono use under water.
I drool over this one.

Thanks Chip... That sounds like a reasonable assessment. This watch is priced in the $1500-$2000 range but it's not an especially pristine example. If I'm correct, this model is a #2298.80, listing at $3695. I'll continue to investigate but any other input is always welcome.

Sorry Pat, mine is Stainless Steel. Ref 2225.80.00 but looks EXACTLY like the pic you posted. List price on mine is $3250. According to the current Omega website, the Titanium watch comes with a Black Dial. http://www.omegawatches.com/index.php?id=287
The picture SLRdude posted is the current Titanium version of my watch. Ref 2293.52.00 (and is also the watch that is shown on the Omega website when you select Titanium with the link above) I checked the 2298.80 you posted above. That picture matches my watch and is shown to be a discontinued watch. Discounted that watch "new" can be had in the 25% off range. 1/2 that and that's what you can expect for a used one. |

Thanks Ron, sounds good. I researched some more and the list pricing is more like $3995. This one's priced less than 50% of that but considering its condition, probably about right. I see NOS available for $2750 or so. One little bugger-boo with this model is you don't get the perk of big-lume markers. I do like the skeleton hands though. I may pass on this one but the idea of getting an Omega hasn't... Thanks all
