Advice on finding a 50th Sub Anniversary
Hi all,
I have decided to purchase a 50th Anniversary Submariner. I am new to the Rolex arena outside buying new from an AD. I would like to find a new in box one and found a few on eBay. What is a fair going rate for a 2010/2011? Any recommendations on a dealer that might have one at a decent rate? Thx |

Do you mean the green Sub-C? I don't think there is a 50th Anniversary Submariner from 2011. The anniversary Sub, as described by Rolex, was the 16610 Submariner with the maxi dial and hands and the green aluminum bezel insert. It was released in 2003 and discontinued a couple of years ago. As for the green Sub-C, look at the For Sale section here. They seem to be going in the high $7Ks to low $8Ks for new or newish ones. Good luck in your search!

If you're looking for the Green ceramic sub I would contact one of our trusted sellers here for a BNIB one. If you're looking for an original non ceramic anniversary sub then I would also watch these forums closely for a BNIB one to pop up. There have been a few over the past couple of months in the mid 6k range for the old style sub.
New style ceramic can sit around 8.5 I think don't quote me on that. If I were you I would start with Davidsw and see what he can do for you =) |

search the sales forum, there are a lot out there now in all different price ranges.
click search, then advanced search. click the for sale box and type 16610lv in search. you will have a lot to look through. I personally would not trust anyone on ebay for that kind of $. On the other hand I have delt with a few trusted and not trusted sellers on here and have had no problems at all. i would consider trusted someone who sells high volume on here with no complaints(davidsw, bodybump, justrolexes, mosco, ect. ...) there are also sellers that seem to be in the middle, have good reps, sell often but not at the volumes or been doing it as long as the bigger guys. not trusted would be anyone else. you can find this info in the Buyers/Sellers "Who's Who" ?!?! you will pay more for the trusted seller but you can rest assured there with be no problems at all, or you can try and save a little by going with someone else and roll the dice. But as I have said, IMHO on the whole this place is much more trustworthy than ebay regardless who you buy it from. Just do your homework and you can find what you are looking for and who to buy it from right here. |

Thanks guys for the responses. I am just learning all the lingo here. I think I have narrowed it down to the a ceramic Sub with the new glide lock. The other Rolex's I have are GMT II's, so really want something different.
I am kind of torn on whether to spend the money on a "like new in box" G serial # true anniversary Sub or go with a regular black Sub and swap out the dial. I saw this great picture of a Sub with a black face/blue bezel insert. If I get the true Sub, I won't mess with it. Not sure how much of a purist I am at this yet. There is a local guy who has a regular 2012 Sub C for $6900 for sale. That is what is making the decision take longer. I have attached the picture I saw of the blue dial Sub C. |

Is this a bad idea or not possible to switch out the bezel color on the SubC?
