Daytona

The other day while at work, was chatting with a fella that used to be in the same dept that I started off in. He saw I was wearing an Omega and we started to talk about watches.

When I mentioned I had a Rolex, he immediately asked if it cost $12k, I said no way, not for a Sea-Dweller. He didn't really know what a Sea-Dweller was until I described it to him.

To make it short, the lucky guy got his Daytona as a present from his wife (white dial) 10 months ago. He said the only time it comes out of the safe was during a wedding a funeral, other than those events it stays in the safe

Just though I'd share a WIS moment with y'all.

Another waste of good money that will never see the light of day.
ITS A BLODDY WATCH WEAR IT.
That would be my advice to your friend.

Kinda sad story. Such a nice watch that sees so little wrist time.

no doubt - wear it! i never understand why some people treat their material possessions that way. they should be enjoyed! it's like the guys that have really nice cars but leave them in the garage and clean them once in a while.

drink that wine, smoke that cigar, drive that car and wear that watch!

He's got a much sought after watch and doesn't wear it...oh well, his loss I guess. Thanks for sharing your story.

The ironic thing is that he has the one of the nicest sport watches out there and opts to wear it at precisely the wrong times. A SS Daytona is far from a "wedding / funeral watch." Timing the bride or casket down the aisle are we?

This may clearly be the case of something so far beyond his financial situation that he treats it in a crazy way.

Spend a 100 bucks a year on insurance and enjoy the darn thing.

That's like having a beautiful wife and only having sex with her on your birthday.
Some things are just wasted.
