2005 Omega Seamaster
Hi Guys, a friend of a friend has offered me an Omega seamaster chronometer which is two years old. I saw it today and It's a great looking watch and just has a bit of dirt between the bracelet links and minor scratches on the bracelet, but nothing really to worry about. It comes with three different credit card type cards in a red wallet as well as a very thick instruction book in about 500 languages, some spare links and it also has it's original red box. It was purchased new by the seller in London in 2005. Could anyone tell me please, should there be an outside box and should there be any other paper work with it. He is looking for 1800 U.S for it. Any other observations appreciated, positive or negative.
Thanks in advance, Phil. |

Mine always came with a white outer box with foam in the bottom. Says OMEGA on the lid.

As best I know, this is what you should get with a Seamaster.
The book and wallet fit in the little pocket in the white box behind the red. Of course, there is a receipt too> |

Looks like a very good deal Phil.
The watch should clean up very well. Chonometer, Chronograph, Date - lots to enjoy I thought they made that model in both titanium or stainless steel. |

Very nice watch and very reliable. Sword hands are the best in the industry for night time viewing! Hope it is on your wrist soon!

Watches like Oysters and Seamasters are incredibly easy to clean. Fill a cup/mug with 1/2 sudsing ammonia, and 1/2 luke warm water. Let soak for 20-30 minutes, then scrub all over with a soft toothbrush. Soak again, and scrub again in new solution, continuing until the solution is no longer getting dirty. Then rinse in tepid water and dry with soft tea towel. Works wonders, and effective for other jewelry, especially diamond rings, et al.

Ammonia? Not all o-ring materials are compatible w/ammonia. I'd stick w/liquid 'hand' diswashing soap and call that good. In addition, the negative effects of either bleach and ammonia on stainless steel are well known.

I think it's highly improbable that ammonia would adversely affect either 316L or 904L, particularly the latter. Plus, the o-ring should not be exposed as it is under the screw-lock.

Excellent
I love the Seamaster Chronos... You get all the chrono functions, and you get it in a waterproof dive watch.. How cool is that... |

Congrats! Great watch - I should know as I have the same one except the AC version.
Yours is probably using the 3301 or 3303 movement. Very accurate with 55 hrs of PR.

Thanks for the comments guys
It's a 3301 Vernon, (what does AC mean in watch speak ) I contacted Omega Switzerland last week about getting the COSC certificate for this watch and they have just replied with... (We are pleased to inform you that the "COSC" (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) will be sent to your address today. We wish you to wear your OMEGA watch with pleasure for many years to come. With kind regards, Jonathan Rouiller INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMER CARE Ω OMEGA SA RUE STAEMPFLI 96 2500 BIENNE 4 SWITZERLAND aftersales@omega.ch www.omegawatches.com) What a helpful and friendly crew they are there and all free of charge! I wonder, does Rolex offer this same service? If anyone happens to have or know of a spare white outer box for this model I would appreciate the nod It's 7 am New Years day here and it's already looking like a good year ahead ..... A PROSPEROUS, HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR TO ALL. |

Hi Phil,
AC means the America's Cup version. The AC has the 3303, same as the 3301 except much more decorated movement, too bad the case back is not an exhibition one. Here's how the AC one looks like... which is the photo of my Seamaster Chrono diver. Quote:

Congrats I know you won't regret getting that baby! Can I ask you what did you have to send to Omega for the COSC certificate to be sent to you that way? Did they need to see a copy of the original receipt? Thanx for any help and Happy New Year!

Hi Ren,
No need to send the original receipt. Just photocopies or scans of the three cards that comes with the watch. I believe if it was sent / requested before, they will not send it again (I may be wrong). Best, Vernon

Yep, the AC logo was dropped due to copyright infringment.
Your watch and mine are basically identical except for the dial and extra movement decorations.

thanks for that. For the COSC rating just contact the Omega service dept. and ask them for it. You do need to supply them with a photo of the retailers address on the card. I just sent them a composed photo of all three cards as well as a front view of the watch, no receipt and they responded positivly almost immediately. Good luck and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you. |
