addition to battle rolex....(16523 vs 116523)
Hello all..... First time poster...A little history...Been a Rolex owner since '98, with a new ss submariner/date. Sold in 2003, and bought a pre-owned(mistake)two tone submariner, silver serti dial. Sold 2006, bought new sea dweller, obviously ss,.....which I currently have and love, and will never sell.
I am looking to add another Rolex. I am looking at pre-owned watches, but must not get hurt financially. Looking for a watch that has always been intriguing to me, but haven't been able to touch till now. Looking at two-tone Rolex Daytonas. Would have been looking at SS Daytonas, but feel they are overpriced and seem to see value in the two-tone models...16523 and 116523. QUESTION is????? Being attentive to longterm value, would buying an older t/t Daytona with the zenith movement (16523) be preferable over the newer in-house Rolex movement, in the 2000-on Daytonas (116523). Seems apples-to-apples, I can get same version of Daytona cheaper, with the more desirable zenith movement... What am I missing? Any help is much appreciated. Should I treat this like a Porsche and get the newest one I can afford(116523), or is old really the better choice? Thanks in advance.. D |

Personally, I'd get the newer one. I'm just a sucker for the 4130 movement.
