Like you already said, they are remarkably different. The JLC is a classic, timeless look. The DB looks as though it will be dated in a few years at best, and it has a cold and lifeless look.

The JLC has a warm, hand-crafted look to it, and the matte, layered dial is (as I'm sure you've noticed, having held it/played with it) impeccably made and yet, looks truly 'crafted,' as opposed to the DB's 'manufactured' feel.

Most of all, if I saw the DB on a friends wrist, I'd not give it a second thought. While it is somewhat unique-looking, it really doesn't have any soul to it. Almost like a fashion watch. The JLC exudes . . . 'effortless class,' the kind of thing I see an older, retired yachtsman wearing as he assembles a ship-in-a-bottle in his study, surrounded by older classic leather furniture and the trappings of a well-lived life.

A dramatic difference in how I view them lol, but what can I say, the JLC has soul!

I like De Bethune, but not this particular model so my vote goes to the JLC
