Speedmaster 50th anniversary
What do you guys think of the Speedmaster 50th anniversary? Personally, I think it is a great watch. Also, does anyone know what this watch costs?

Other than the giant sea-horse on the dial, is this watch any different than the normal Speedy Pro moon watch? Those can be had around $2000.

Tried one on at local AD in Brisbane recently, price was about AUD$5100 (no discount available) compared to AUD$4100 less discount for std Moonwatch. From what I could see, the only difference between the watches was the dial.

Very nice photo of the 50th Anniversary Speedmaster. Sometimes they ask a bit of a premium over the pricing of their normal models, but in this case I haven't heard either way. A few years ago when Omega issued a "Bond" Seamaster they added a few hundred to the price but I haven't heard on this one. What I do know is that there are legions of fans for this Lemania based, hand wound watch. Some have mentioned they might be offering an automatic version/model of this watch, so you might want to be careful to check when asking about pricing--I haven't checked myself yet so this information might not be accurate. Regardless, I think it is a great looking classic chronograph and personally I would love to add one to my collection.

As Larry said, I have one. I think it's a drop dead beautifull watch.
Yes pricing is on the order of 4K for this model (though in my experience substantial discounts can be had, though you milage may vary) It uses the 1861 movement and indeed is equipped with a sapphire crystal. The watch carries the same legend on the back as the regular Speedmaster with it's number on the back (top right) Called the "patch" because of the logo on the dial, the watch has a lot of presence, As LEs go I like this one A LOT. Mine is +2 sec. a day, |
