It really bugs me....Do I just have to learn to live with it?

I just got my two Rolexes serviced about a month or so ago at the Fifth Avenue Rolex store in NYC.
I have a YG President, fluted bezel, stick dial which had lost the lume and the face was a bit discolored. Nothing wrong with the watch, just patina but they replaced the parts and fix to the tune of $1875.

The problem is the second watch. WG President, diamond dial, diamond bezel which had stopped advancing after keeping time beautifully for years. This was why I went in for servicing and figured I'd just do both.

Anyway, let me get to the point, the diamond bezel had two slight dings in almost the same spot (probably from banging my hand against something) and after servicing the dings were still there. Untouched. I guess that wasn't something they repair under servicing although for $1800 (both watches were close to $4k Total) I'd think they would send the watch back looking brand new.

Funny, but the dings never bothered me so much until after servicing. The dings just jumped out at me because the dings were at the 3 o'clock mark when they replaced it after servicing. I had them turn the bezel to put it back at 12 o'clock and that made it look less glaring but it still gnaws at me!
What's up with that? They cleaned and replaced parts on both and both look pretty good but for the ding. Optically it almost looks like the bezel is no longer perfectly circular and I notice the ding even if no one else does?

Anything at all that I can do about this? Do I just have to learn to live with it?

Diamond bezel? Was it aftermarket? They won't touch it.

if the watch was serviced and the bill was close to 1800... they prob just forgot to polish the watch. You should call the store and have them rectify the problem.

Diamond WG bezel, how much do you think a replacement item will be? Even just the WG bezel only.

The truly easy part with any RSC(rolex service center) including the one on 5th Avenue, is you go in and complain in a dignified and pleasant manner, and they will make it right, or explain to you why they did what they did........just go there! and good luck....

I agree. Go there, tell them, kindly, how you feel. That you expected they would get rid of the dings and, most likely, they will if at all possible.

Maybe it is something that could not be fixed ... too much material to remove, diamond placement, etc.

Given that you are a local you should just walk by and inquire.

I suspect the pain of the ding will pass with time.

In the meantime, as others have said, you could return to the RSC and find out what options are available to you.

The bezel is original. Rolex has ALREADY serviced it. They just didn't do anything about the damage (damage through wear).

Go in person and be polite as others have said. I noticed that the screw heads on a couple of screws on the two watches I just had serviced looked like they had been removed by a tapered screwdriver and damaged.

I have no idea when it happened and probably would not have noticed if they had not done such a good job on the bracelet during the service. They did not look good and I took them in. They took them in the back and the tech said they were within spec.

I told them I was not happy. After going back and forth, four screws were replaced. I had to sign some paperwork that said the screws were used on my watches. That was when I realized the tech had to account for all the parts, even screws. When it was all over she told me Rolex wanted their customers to be satisfied.

With regards to replacing the bezel I suspect it would be quite a lot. The current model retails for $35K, quite a markup from the basic WG President even the one with just the diamond marker and no bezel (this has both diamond markers and bezel). Anyway, I suspect a lot of the price mark-up might be in the bezel really. I suspect that's why they didn't suggest replacing. I'm sure you're all aware but the work appraisal they give you has work that they deem "necessary" and then ork that is "recommended but not require" and which additional work you may accept or declineas you choose and they did not suggest replacing the bezel. (Basic movement service for the watches which they deem Super President was just $880 asnd the rest of the $1800 service cost for each watch was recommended but not necessary fixes such as replacing the hands and so on.)

I suspect that as one person suggested they felt that it was not an easy fix but to not even try? It looks like they didn't attempt to smooth the ding at all. It's pretty much the same way I sent it in.

I think I will go back and see what can be done although I made it clear i wasn't happy and all they did was to move the bezel around so the damage moved from the 3 o'clock back to the 12 o'clock position......
