Up for sale is this beautiful Rolex Explorer ref. 114270 "F" serial (ca. 2003) complete with all boxes & papers. This classic 36mm Explorer features the best of all worlds IMO: upgraded cal. 3130 movement, Super Luminova dial & hands and no lug-holes case but still with the non-engraved rehaut/inner bezel for a cleaner look. Additionally, the pre-steroid era size makes the classic Explorer one of the most versatile watches out there, appropriate with a tux, suit or jeans. It comes on the great 78690 flip lock clasp bracelet with SELs, 12 links installed and one spare link. This iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer comes complete with full boxes, old-style papers, hang tag with serial, chronometer seal and all booklets and holders. Overall, the watch is in crispy never-polished Excellent to Near Mint condition with very few signs of wear and the bracelet is stretch free and easily Excellent+.

As you would expect, the beautiful glossy black Explorer dial is Mint, as are the hands, and both show strong luminous glow. The sapphire crystal is flawless.

While I have not put the watch on a timing machine, this great Rolex is keeping good time, the crown screws down properly for maximum water resistance and unscrews to hackset the time as designed. That said, I have not had the watch tested, so I am not guaranteeing the WR. A good watchmaker will be able to confirm that for you but I'm sure it is up to its depth rating, as most sapphire-era Oysters inevitably are.

The asking price for this all-time great Rolex is $3650 USD, a massive savings off the current list, not to mention future list when Rolex jacks their prices again in 2013.
