Very nice, I never noticed the GMT-IIc is quite a beast compared to the other timepieces in the lineup.

Not really a beast, pal. It's still just 40 mm like all normal Rolex sports models. That YM next to the GMT-II happens to be a mid-size 35 mm model and thus is much smaller.

I suggested the mid sized ym/pt for my wife.

She turned it down and went for a diamond encrusted Raymond Weil.

Go figure!

Nice choices, the YM and the GMT II. I think I would choose the larger sized YM, but I do really like both of those models. The dial on the YM is mesmerizing.
