Slack in minute hand..how much?

How much " slack: should there be in the minute hand when setting the time?
My 14060M seems to have quite a bit , while some of my other mechanical watches have virtually none. It a bit hard to set teh time exactly as when you close the crown it often moves. It is a design flaw? An adjustment needed..or what?

Both of mine do the same. It is kind of annoying. I think it might be normal though.

Gear lash in some movements is more pronounced - as much as 3 degrees on some.

All my Rolexes exhibit no slack when I advance clockwise to the set time. All my ETA movements require me to back up CCW to my set time.

my 14060 only has slack in the minute hands when going backwards in time- so I only set my time forwards now

What ever it is, there is a technique to doing it and you can figure it out on your own with a little practice.

Once you realize that the slack is there, you can compensate for it and you can alter the way you push in the crown.

When I bought my Explorer, I was taken aback by it, but as I said, with practice, I've come not to consider it a problem at all.

This isn't a design flaw, it is the spacing between gear faces - if you make it too tight then accuracy is affected and gears wear down quicker.

It is only during the action of setting the watch where lash is evident. In normal operation you will note the minute hand is rock solid.

My 14060m has it but my old DD does not. When setting the time on my sub I go pass the point I want the min. hand at, then come back to the point. That way the back lash is taken out.

All my Rolex watches have slack. Some more than others. It's perfectly normal.

As mentioned above, when hacking the time, I move the minute hand about 15 minutes PAST the minute mark that I need and then work the crown back, slightly past the mark. It'll jump forward to where you need it with enough practice.
