Need help with a vintage Rolex
Hello,
I hope all are well... I was given this watch as a gift and have no information on it. I tried to do some web research but came up empty handed. Anyone recognize it and know any history on it? The serial number is 597168 I have attached pictures.... thanks. |

It's a Rolex 3861 with a cal 7.75' movement (iirc). Steel versions are worth around $1500 and gold cases considerably more. They were sold in the 1930s and 40s. Somewhat rare because of their age. Looks like a nice example for a 70 year old watch

I had a fertle around the Internet last night on this watch; seems its a might but more valuable than I expected. The gold models being the most coveted. I was surprised too.

Two month ago, Antiquorum sold this watch in a 14K PINK GOLD for $1,700 (including buyer's premium). http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalo...&auctionid=266
I believe the same watch (above) also sold on Antiquorum two years ago for $3,700. I still say ... $800 max |

I wish I had seen that pink gold one. I love it. It looks like a Prince but a little more feminine so I could wear it : - ) |
