Service question from AP noob

I just purchased an immaculate 15300 from DavidSW. Phenomenal transaction as always.

The papers are stamped 12/1/10 and the watch came LNIB.

I spoke to a woman at the Clearwater SC and she seemed to be pushing for a full service and water resistance check, her reasoning being that the watch likely sat unworn for the majority of the 2 year period and maybe the oils dried up/sedimented/whatnot. As per the manufacturer recommendations the watch is only due for a water resistance check.

So here are my questions:

1. Is a full service needed at this point?
2. Do most of you perform the water resistance check like clockwork every 2 years (pardon the pun).

You should perhaps just check for water resistance. If the watch has not been worn much in your case, I personally don't think a full service is required. You should also start wearing the watch and observe if the movement is working fine. Lookout for accuracy issues and stoppages.

AP service cost is pretty high. It's quite a hefty amount.

Just my 2cents, lets wait for what the other experts would say

QUICK!!! Send it in for the 3rd year warranty extension before your 2yr warranty expires! They'll perform a full water resistance check as well as check regulation. One of my APs was checked for water resistance and found to need a full service (under warranty).

Ah nuts. I'd say, I forgot it expires on 12/1/12 - all those 1s and 2s are confusing. Since its within 30 days of the expiration...

They will likely cut you some slack. However, sometimes it takes a few weeks to get the 3rd yr page sent to you.

Here's what you should do...register the watch on AP to they can send you the sticker...go talk to the boutique, ask if its possible to still extend and that you have already requested it online.

The staff there is wonderful and will do what they can for you.
