Does RSC send back old parts when replaced?

I have a 168000 that I am considering sending to RSC for an overhaul. If they replace the bezel insert do they keep the old one? Is the price different if I send the watch in without one? I thought about keeping the vintage dial as well and send it back in pieces. Thoughts

they keep all of the old parts. If they change anything they ship the watch back without any of the parts that were taken off.

Hope that answers your question

They will not replace the insert unless you agree to it and it is an additional charge; not part of the overhaul price. So, if you send it in without an insert and want one installed, the price is the same: service charge + insert charge.

They also do not change dials (unless you buy a new one) and may refuse to service your watch if you send it to them without one or in parts.

Now, if your dial is in such condition that it needs to be replaced (peeling, chipping) they will tell you and may refuse service unless you agree to purchase a new dial.

Rolex policies are brutal. They are the ultimate post sale control freak. Find your self a good independent watch maker that services Rolex with genuine Rolex parts.

It seems this is the case in USA but not everywhere. I have all the replaced parts when I took my 16750 for service

You pay for the watch which means you own it.

Rolex services your watch & keep all the old parts that you've paid for.

Does that make sense?

I was always led to believe taking someone else's property without permission is theft.

Why would you want old watch parts????????

You keep your oil filters when you have the oil changed???

Things like the original dials should be given back to the owner. The person who owns the watch, not Rolex who don't own it.

Agreed. In the case of a dial swap, it'd be better to source the dial elsewhere and have it installed by a competent watchmaker.

That happened to me. I had crackling on the dial and RSC would not service it.

The good news is that it made me think about a blue dial for my Sub. It looks good
