So I called the only AD near me to potentially have a permanent link removed from my 14060M and they really told me it could take up to 3 weeks. Seriously, 3 weeks. My belief is that they will mail it to RSC in NYC to have the work done. Am I wrong for being disappointed?

at least you know it will be done right. Might take a little bit of time but I would rather wait then have an inexperienced watch guy try to do something.

You can do this in 5 minutes. Really. I'll try to dig up the step by step. You just need two vice grips and some in-shape triceps.

I contacted an AD in Rochester and a VERY nice sales associate informed me that they can take care of it on the spot for $20 (charge because I didnt purchase there). Its a 2.5 hour drive and I have been told to rest assured as their techs are proficent and execute permanent link removals (if its required) all the time.

I'd go this route over waiting weeks on the AD who doesn't employ a watchmaker.

This actually got me thinking. If I purchased a watch from this AD and had to wait three weeks for sizing I'd get a refund and purchase elsewhere. We're not talking about automobile purchases were it has to come from the factory. It's actually a 2 hour drive. Easy road trip where I can listen to a new audio book (50 Shades of Grey anyone).

Yep, Rochester NY. A quick 2 hour zip for me on Sat morning after piano lesson, fuel, coffee, audio book loaded. Oh the things we do for our Rolex watches. Sorry, I cannot wait 3 weeks to wear this beauty, and really dont want to fuss with it myself, and dont trust a soul where I'm at.

Hope not, cause I will leave disappointed. I just purchased two 14060's on Monday so I'm on pause mode for now.

Haha. I understand the apprehension but it really isn't that bad. The links are press fit and come apart with some elbow grease. You really can't mess it up. I've done it on all my old bracelets.
