Micah straps arrived....

I got my V-Dark and Salian straps yesterday. They are very nice, well made and substantial. Almost too much so. I am not as fond of the thick heavy straps as I used to be. I rather like the thinner more flexible ones, like Micah's CU29. Anyway, here are the new ones.

You can see the thickness, and how the large buckle "enhances" this effect:

As Micah says, I'll give them a try and see how they work out. Maybe I need an SS 44mm instead of the titanium. That way I'll maybe feel like the "heft" of the strap belongs with the "heft" of the watch.

Don't despair. You can use them to deflect bullets like Wonder Woman :-)

With them both being casual, they look right to me, thickness-wise. Nice colors, too. Hope they warm up to you, and, if they don't, they shouldn't be hard to move on to the next person.

I think Micah's advice is dead on; I also needed a few weeks to "break in" my Toshis but now they are super-soft, super-flexible, despite their ~4.5mm thickness. Frankly, I think a beefy strap looks the part, especially on PAMs

OT
So, what's the moral of that Tatt, "always be prepared", or are you a "scatter-hoarder" (hiding your watches here & there) or maybe "even a Rolex fan finds a PAM once in a while"
/OT

Thx for the advice! I DO intend to wear them and I realize that they will break in. They really are quite special.

Those straps are nice. I have several from Micah myself. The weight of the watch does come in to play. My 422 (heavy watch) came with a 26/22 rather thin OEM strap which always felt flimsy and which now sits in the box. It made the watch feel top heavy.

If your watch is titanium, I could see why a thick strap feels awkward. I just picked up two new ones from Panatime at great prices and they are of good quality, medium thickness and very comfortable. Micah's straps are more of the traditional thicker type of manufacture.

Yo Rodentman, looking good! If the thickness continues to be an issue just shoot me an email, I can make them thinner too :-)

I think part of the problem is the size and shape of the buckle. Even though they aren't totally flat, they are "uncurved" enough so that the bend of the strap through them adds a lot of bulk. They are sewn in; I could get them off and substitute but I am not sure if I want to exchange with Micah for a thinner strap. Still thinking...

Straps replaced....

Micah was kind enough to make me new straps that are much more to my liking. I got the flat black and durevol and changed the buckles to a style I prefer over the Pre-V. The flat black is just that, and very nice. They both are better for me, softer and thinner, but still substantial. I am happy and Micah is a great guy to deal with....
