Daytona 16518 vs 116518 - differences in appearance

Have done a search on this but couldn't find a whole lot.

From what I understand so far, these 2 models (the 16518 and the 116518) have different movements - the Zenith vs the in house - and there are also different dial choices available between the 2.

But other than dials & movements can anyone enlighten me on the difference of these 2 watches? Particularly the differences in appearance.

Thanks

Any ideas chaps? Going to look at a 16518 this weekend and if there's no reason to hold out for a 116518 would like to be able to pull the trigger :)

You need to make another search through the classifieds since there are several great examples of each there...

The hands are the most important difference in appearance to me between the two. The older hands are slimmer than the "fat" hands of the newer model.

Just 2 examples...
From a listing of the 16518

And a 116518 pic from a recent listing

For the reference of anyone looking here in future , 2 major differences I noticed in person:

1) The connecting bracelet lugs (the end-pieces of gold which the leather strap connects to) are notably larger on the 116518 than the 16518. As such the 116518 looks significantly larger and more bulky, modernises it I feel.

2) The leather strap on the 116518 looks far more modern than the strap on 16518

Sub dial placement is the real difference.

Another difference is the numbers on the bezel, one is engraved and the other is...not

Both are winners, the dial choices are better for the current, the endlinks and non-engraved rehaut is in favor of the older IMO.

My $.02...{I'm sure TRF will correct me if I'm wrong}...
In addition to the fatter hands on the 116518, the subdial has the 60 second function at the 6 position {instead of at the 9 position on the 16518 } and the other sub dials are shifted in location as well;
The subdials in the 9 and 3 position on the 16518 are centered directly on a line drawn between 3 and 9 {Zenith movement} while the 116518 has those subdials a few milimeters above the 9 to 3 line {in-house movement}
The deployment clasp was beefed up a bit on the 116518 {I think}...
Good luck!
