Thoughts on replacing vintage box
I have a fantastic 1675 full set. But the box is a bit rough. What are your thoughts on replacing an original (to the watch) box with a like for like in better condition?

To make a better display set to go on shelf next to the watch.
I just know this is odd as original is usually the better choice.

You can "upgrade" to a better box and it won't make a difference. Some people like the "original" box but a period box is good too. I personally like a box with every watch I own and I want each box to be in good to excellent condition. So, I can understand where you are going. I think you should upgrade or you won't be happy.

Actually the set of documents and accessories I have that accompany thus watch is fairly complete. Besides the condition of the box I question if all the books or documents are there.
I'm not sure what should have been included with a GMT 1675 in 1973. I'll post an image. Maybe I could get some help from you guys? The watch was purchased from the American military PX in Hong Kong.

Here is the info on my GMT 1675
The watch case back is stamped 1970 The papers have dates 1970 and 1971 Watch sold in 1973 at the US military PX in Hong Kong. I'm missing the red and green tags. Was there a manual or cigarette card?

I also think that box looks great!
Looks like you are missing the booklets, GMT (blue background w/clouds) and Oyster; and the "auto lock" bezel small black leaflet. The green hand tag is unique because it would have the serial number of the watch. Here is a picture of a full package rom RolexEphemera. . |

My thoughts (therefore my taste and opinion) is don't bother. Keep original, which probably rarely sees any daylight anyway. Save your money!

Is my small white "your rolex oyster" booklet the same as the larger one with the shell on it?
