Agreed. I've always wanted to say this before, but was worried I'd get flamed for saying so. However, I've seen some beautiful Rolexes with smooth bezels....so there ya go, Both are great.

The smooth in the blue dial reminds me of the DDII in all platinum! With out the 50,000.00 price tag.

Had no idea that there was such a preponderance of fluted fans. I like the smooth better, that puts me in the minority. To really get full function out of a Rolex with a fluted bezel, you have to replace the seals with lead, like in the first Oysters. That's what the fluting was for, to tighten the crystal and maintain water-resistance as the lead seal deformed over time. We've come a long way, today we have a choice without risk of water damage.

Glad you made up your mind. Although smooth is not as popular, I agree with you that it has many attractive qualities: cost, subtle, durability. Smooth is my favorite, too.
