New addition but question about box

I recently picked up a new exp1 from an AD. See pic. I am in love with it. My question is that it came with a smaller box than my 116000 OP ND? What gives? Do AD's just grab a box and not match them to the watch they came with?

This should come with the smaller sized box since it's full stainless steel.
I'm not sure why your 116000 got a bigger box. AD's don't mix and match boxes to my knowledge.

Or did your other one come in a box too big? This one should have a small box.

So I guess they gave me the wrong box last time. Is the big one worth more or are they about the same?

Have to agree is a small packaging box worth more than a slightly larger packaging box no its just a box.Now Rolex watches are not shipped from the factory in there green boxes but in little plastic cases. So its a bit pot luck to whatever box the ADs takes of his shelves to put watch in,I sometime wonder what's the most important the packaging or the actual watch.

My DateJust2 comes with a larger box than my Explorer2. Size aside, I think Rolex sold provide better boxes esp for the higher end models.

I just didnt want to get stuck if i ever wanted to sell and someone would think that the box is not original to the watch but it sounds like its more relaxed than i thought which is cool. Thanks for the info as I am relatively new but have learned a lot. Gonna take my dad and get him a daytona tomorrow so I can live vicariously through his purchase. :)

Peter,
I didn't know this. I've seen those plastic shipping boxes but did not know that they came from the mother ship packed in those. Learned something new today!

My Turn-O-Graph came in a box intended for a SDDS. (The sticker on the white box was taped over but still legible) So, as Padi said, the shipping box and presentation boxes are separate until the watch is purchased. To me, the goes in the 'who gives a damn file.' Yet, I appreciate some concern if the piece gets re-sold. Congrats on the New Explorer

My sub-c came in a mid size box.
AD said SS come in small except sports model SS which get the mid size.

Lovely watch BTW. Think the Exp 1 is better than the Exp 2 IMHO.

My SS Daytona came with a small box, my SS subc came in a slightly larger box and my TT SubC came in a larger box. All are random serials and all came in the little clear plastic factory case. I requested the AD not open the plastic case when they came in so that I could capture that fresh Swiss air when I opened them!

+ 1 for the DSSD comes in the biggest box, mine actually say in the white paper box, for precious metal and 116660, something like that

I have gotten mid size box for my SD and Wife's floral datejust, both SS. Wife's other oyster perpetual SS came in smaller box, all the stickers (serial#) on the white paper outer box matches the rest of the watch and warranty cards, etc

I have gotten the wrong box a few times
....as long as the paper work matches that is more important.
