This is frightening...

I often defend the 'bay because, if you shop carefully, there are good deals to be found.

This, however, defies comprehension:

No bids; imagine my suprise...

I am going to go out on a limb and say this MAY be a legitimate Rolex watch. And there ARE USA made Rolex bracelets out there. I don't see the problem.

Guess it's possible. Found some threads on bracelets made in the USA; e.g., http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=105316

Why does it defy comprehension? And why is it "frightening"?

Why? And why is it a "POS"? Never seen a vintage Rolex before?

It has been polished beyond recognition, notice the spring bar sticking out and the end link having a gap of a few millimeters where there should be case material on the lugs.

I find it highly amusing how these so-called "experts" have made total idiots of themselves when as far as I am concerned this is a 100% genuine ladies rolex - this amuses me as does many similar threads when the know-it-alls have this huge verbal battle between themselves about the authenticity of a watch ... LOL - have they ever given the tiniest iota of a thought as to how this damages their credibility??

Guess I should have been more specific.

I wasn't talking about the authenticity; I know what it is and I know about US Rolex bands.

It's the condition of the bracelet and the way it fits the watch head, and the seller compares this to a new watch in his listing.

I'm all for vintage but please...

[Edit] Still no bids, btw...

I also think the seller is legit, just a bit optimistic in his estimation of this watch's condition and value...

Not sure where you got that info, but reading the comments above not one person said it was a complete fake. Personal comments like "frightening", etc are spot on though...it has indeed been polished an incredible amount and the end links look as if they are about to fly off at any moment. I don't see any damage at all to anyone's credibility since those comments do seem correct for this piece

There are too many threads with older watches that I personally know nothing about and would genuinely like to learn.

I usually come to this section for that, but all that seems to happen are people jumping in and immediately saying watches are fake and trash. I'm a complete amateur and the really ones are easy to spot, but the example in this thread looks debatable even to me. Apparently the more knowledgable people chimed in and set things right.

There should probably be some kind of system that penalizes members for calling a watch fake with anything to back it up. Would probably stop people from filling every single topic with nonsense when they don't know what they are talking about.

looks o.k., i don't see a problem? what was
the first concern with the watch?

personally, it isn't a model i have strong
feeling about. just ask a rolex trained
watchmaker about it. i'm sure they will
have something to say about a 1100 series
movement
