Where to buy a "cyclops" for my Tudor Heritage Chrono?

I've seen a few folks putting a cyclops on their THC to better mimic the vintage watch. I'm not a huge fan of the cyclops overall, but I think it looks great on the THC. Someone referred me to Ofrei, and those sell for only $3 or so. Any comments on the quality of those? Any alternatives?

Also, once I get it, how would I stick it on the crystal? Would it be removeable in the future without taking the crystal off the case?

I think a certified Rolex watchmaker would be needed for this task. Since you're in LA, there are plenty of them around. However, it could be a bit more expensive than $3.

The Esslinger magnifier is what any watchmaker is going to install. Thinking you are going to get a "Rolex" made cyclops is foolish.

Could be true, Eddie. However, I was able to source a Rolex cyclops from a friend who was nice (and talented) enough to install it for me. Also completely reversible if you want to go back to original.

I've been also trying to get a cyclops installed on my Tudor Heritage Chrono for a while now. I find the date is a little small and hard to read and I actually like the look of it on this watch.
I am a little nervous doing it myself so I talked to my local Rolex AD in Halifax,NS and they contacted Rolex Canada and was told they couldn't do it and I haven't been able to find anyone locally so I kind of gave up.
If anybody knows anyone in Canada or the NE US that that can do it for me please let me know. Regards,Dave

Getting a genuine Rolex cyclops would be nice, but the Esslinger looks decent from their website:

http://www.esslinger.com/glass-date-...-crystals.aspx

I'll try contacting 4 Crowns in LA, but other than that, is there no reliable way to source this simple piece?

BTW, Esslinger states that it is glued on to the crystal with a UV-activated glue. Is this what Rolex does with their current crystals? In case I don't like it, anybody know where I can get a THC original crystal?

Yes. If you don't like it have it removed.

I stock the Esslinger cyclops in my store, and they are high quality and identical to the Rolex product. I could replace the cyclops on your Submariner without you knowing, and you would never be the wiser.

The Esslinger is mineral crystal. Is the Rolex cyclops not sapphire?

Since you're familiar with the Esslinger, they come in 3 sizes. Which one corresponds to the Rolex cyclops?

If anyone has an info it would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to use a Rolex just take one off an extra crystal.

I have an old crystal from my 16800 with a scratch in it that I will use the cyclops for when I get a THC. Immerse it in acetone and it will eventually come off.

Hi Dave and Dan,
please could you measure the dimensions of your cyclops, just to eventually order the right size from Esslinger ?

Thanks,

Engi

Sure, my friend. Mine is 0.7mm W x 0.6mm H as best as I can measure.

Nessun problema. The cyclops appears more rectangular than the measurements suggests.

This is really funny! THC is one of my favorite Tudors and I was hesitant to get it because I liked the old one better. Great thread, awesome mod!!!
I will reconsider getting this nice watch now. Thanks guys...
