High School basketball in Georgia
Last night a buddy and I shoot some basketball photos for our local team. These images were taken using a Nikon D300/grip with a Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR monopod mounted. I had a custom WB using the Expodisc and shot at ISO 3200. While the gym has decent light for the game, it would be nice to have better lighting. We do not want to use flash as it is distracting to the players. Cheers, Bill P.

Some nice work there. Have you thought of the 85mm f/1.4? I love the 70-200mm myself, but sometimes it's not fast enough.

Have not tried the 85/1.4, but I have the 85/1.8 and tried it. I have not found that it works well for me. Last week I even tried my 50/1.8 and liked it better than the 85, but not as much as the 70-200. My Nikon D300 has a 1.5 crop factor which makes my 85 act like a 127mm and my 50 like a 75mm. Thanks for the suggestion though. Cheers, Bill P.
